If your ePCS authentication is set up for Symantec VIP, on the Send Prescription window, the Authentication Required to Sign Controlled Substances section displays the Symantec VIP logo and authentication fields. Your NextGen Healthcare user name appears in the Username field. Authentication Required to Sign Controlled Substances Enter your NextGen Healthcare password and then enter your Symantec VIP one-time token code. The Authenticate button becomes available. Select Authenticate before the current token code expires. After your identity has been authenticated, the Send button becomes available to submit the prescription electronically. Enter IdenTrust MAS Two-Factor Authentication Credentials for ePCS

If your ePCS authentication is set up for IdenTrust Mobile Authentication Service (MAS), then on the Send Prescription window, the Authentication Required to Sign Controlled Substances section displays the IdenTrust MAS authentication fields. Send Prescription Select Authenticate. The application displays ePCS identification code, and you receive a push notification on the registered device for the corresponding ePCS identification code. Send Prescription On your registered device, swipe Approve and then enter the HID Approve password. After your identity has been authenticated, the Send button becomes available to submit the prescription electronically. Submit Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Select Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Select a controlled substance to prescribe. On the medication details toolbar, select Send. Note: If the Prescribed Elsewhere check box is selected, the Print and Send buttons are unavailable. You must review the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) report that is generated automatically when you prescribe a controlled substance. The Send Prescription window displays the logo and appropriate fields for the configured ePCS authentication method. Send Prescription Note: If you select multiple medications, then you can send medications to multiple destinations. From the Destination list, select a pharmacy. Two-Factor Authentication Credentials for ePCS

According to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) regulations, providers who want to send Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances (ePCS) must be identity-proofed by appropriate persons within a practice. As a step in this process, the NextGen Healthcare administrator must associate a two-factor authentication (TFA) credential with the provider’s NextGen Healthcare user ID and activate that credential. The credential works only with NextGen® Enterprise applications. You can activate a provider's token to enable TFA. The token can be either an issued VIP or IndenTrust hard token or a software token that was downloaded onto a smartphone. Because at least one ePCS registrar must have TFA to grant user ePCS prescriber rights, non-ePCS prescribers can also have TFA tokens activated. The user must be present for the activation.
