Scan Patient Insurance Cards

You can scan both the front and back of a card using a duplex scanner.
A duplex scanner is not required, but highly recommended for accuracy.

You can scan and record images of one or more insurance cards for the patient.

  1. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM.
  2. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup .
    The Patient Lookup window opens.
  3. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and then select Find.
    Patient records that match the search criteria appear in the Matching Records section.
  4. Select the patient, and then select Open.
    The Patient Chart window opens.
  5. Select the Encounters tab.
    The encounters associated with the patient appear in the Encounters section.
  6. Select the Insurance tab and then select the encounter from the Encounters section.
  7. Right-click the selected insurance under the Encounter Insurance section, and then select Open.
    The Insurance Maintenance window opens.
  8. Select Scan.
    The Scanning Device Input window opens.
  9. Place the front of the patient insurance card in the scanner and adjust the scan guide so that it fits the original.
  10. Select open record under the Front section, and then select Acquire.
    When the scanning process is finished, the card image appears in the Scanning Device Input window.
  11. Select OK.
    The Insurance Maintenance opens.
