General Options Universal Preferences

Preference Description Add to Inclusion List from Patient Lookup Enables a provider to add patients to their Inclusion List from the Patient Lookup window. When this preference is set to True, patient names in the Patient Lookup window display with black text and the remaining names display with gray text. When this preference is set to False, only those names in the Inclusion List appear in the Patient Lookup window; therefore, the provider cannot add any new names to the Inclusion List. Note: The provider must have an Inclusion List already set up. Allow LDAP Integrated Authentication When set to True, this preference enables the LDAP integration features. The LDAP user mapping options become available in the System Administrator application > User settings > External tab. On the tab, the administrator searches the Active Directory system by domain, username, first name and last name and maps a directory user object to the selected NextGen Healthcare user account. Remove the Enterprise and Practice Fields

To remove the Enterprise and Practice fields from the Logon window, double-click View > Universal Preferences > General Options > Bypass Enterprise/Practice at Login in System Administrator. Set to True to enable users to log on to the NextGen® Enterprise applications without having to select an enterprise and practice. The Logon window will no longer display the Enterprise and Practice fields. Note: If a user has access to only one practice, then when the user selects the Logon button, the application opens. If a user has access to multiple practices, then when the user selects the Logon button, a window displays so they can select the appropriate enterprise and practice before the application opens. Using Single Sign On

Single Sign On streamlines the user logon process for multiple applications. It enables users to switch from one non-administrative application (such as NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, NextGen® Document Management, and NextGen® Optical Management to another without having to log on to each application. Note: For security purposes, user access to administrative applications should be restricted. Therefore, users must always log on to the administrative applications such as File Maintenance, System Administrator, NextGen® Background Business Processor, NextGen® Clinical Message Manager, and Report Server. When Single Sign On is in use and Patient Synchronization is enabled, an open patient record in one application automatically opens in subsequent applications. The same record displays when the user opens another application or when the user switches from one open application to another. Add a Custom Message to the Logon Window

Activate Integrated Authentication

To turn on LDAP and Windows integrated authentication, in System Administrator > Universal Preferences, select General Options. Set the Allow LDAP Integrated Authentication preference to True. The LDAP user mapping options become available in the External tab of User settings in System Administrator. If you want to activate Windows integrated authentication, set the Allow Windows Integrated Authentication preference to True. Map a User for LDAP Integrated Authentication

By mapping individual users to users in the Active Directory, you enable them to use LDAP authentication. To map a user, in System Administrator main window, select the user. On the External tab, select Map LDAP User. The Add External LDAP User window appears. Under LDAP User Search Options, the Domain search field defaults to the name of the domain currently logged into, and the First Name and Last Name fields default to the first and last names of the selected NextGen Healthcare user. If you need to find a different user, enter the search criteria in the LDAP User Search Options, and then select Search. The matching results display. Select the username row, and then select OK.
