Medications Operations Security Rights

The following security rights control aspects of Medications and ePrescribing. Security Right Used in Description Allow Access to Manage ePA NextGen® Enterprise EHR Enables users to manage electronic prior authorization (ePA) messages that come from the Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), including answering questions sent by the PBM. For more information about ePA, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Medications Module User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Allow Pharmacy Download NextGen® Enterprise EHR Enables users to download pharmacies in NextGen® Enterprise. This security right does not control user ability to download pharmacies in File Maintenance. eRx NextGen® Enterprise EHR Enables users to approve and deny refills. This security right works in combination with the Medication permission (under MODULES > Medical Records). If the eRx permission and the Medication permission > Add access right are both enabled, approvals and denials can be applied.

Control Whether Users Can Open External Applications

To enable users to open external applications from NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM, you must ensure that the Allow API Access security right is enabled for the desired user groups. This right includes all methods of opening external applications, whether from the Patient Information Card (PIC) or the Launch External Application template trigger. Note: The Allow API Access security right is set to Yes by default. In System Administrator, open the enterprise and practice, and select a user group. Select the Rights tab. To open external applications in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM, you must meet the following prerequisites. NextGen® API Suite Manager must be installed. The API connectivity requirements would have already been met during NextGen® API Suite Manager installation. You can contact the third-party application vendor to inquire about any additional network connectivity requirements for functions beyond the scope of API integration.
