What does Message Routing Logic means?
By design, all users (staff and providers) should be mapped in Site Generator with a unique User ID from NextGen. Locations in Site Generator are also mapped with a unique external location ID from NextGen.
What would occur if no routing rules are set?
When a patient selects and sends a message for a location and provider in NextGen® PxP Portal that has required map values in Site Generator, as per design, if no routing rules are found for the provider and location selected, when sent, the message would arrive in the provider’s inbox as that is the User ID selected.
What is the purpose for setting routing rules?
Generally as per practice workflows, providers have a group of users who respond on their behalf to patients. The ability to add routing rules based on selections made in NextGen® PxP Portal enables the practice to control who receives a message when it arrives in NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM from NextGen® PxP Portal. Simply put, routing rules are additional filter logic to control where a message is received. The range of filters they can use varies based on the unique setup in Site Generator and requirements for the destination of the message.
