Attachments		The message has one or more attachments.
Completed		The message is marked as completed
	The message is new or released by a user.
	The message is accepted by other users. Note: You can use a mouse to hover over the accepted icon to view the accepted user information.
Status		The message is delivered.
	The message delivery is pending.
	The message is partially delivered.
	The message delivery is failed.

Review and Resend Failed Messages

When secure messages fail to send to patients, you can receive message delivery failure notifications with the reasons for failure in the Communications Outbox view. The Delivery Failed and Partially Delivered icons appear next to the corresponding messages. You can resend both failed and partially delivered messages to patients. However, you cannot edit the subject, content, and recipients of the message. To ensure successful resending, you must review and resolve the reasons for the message delivery failure before resending. Note: You cannot resend messages to restricted patients who are part of the Inclusion/Exclusion list. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select Mailbox. The Inbox opens in the NextGen Mailbox window. To view failed and partially delivered messages, select Outbox, right-click anywhere in Outbox, and then select Show Only Failed Items. Compose and Send Messages

Before you begin Ensure that the Patient Messaging online solution is active in Site Generator so that messages sent from NextGen® Enterprise applications can reach the patient's NextGen® PxP Portal mailbox. When you or your co-workers initiate a message, the Category column displays Practice Initiated in the Outbox grid view. For messages that are sent as replies to practice initiated messages, the Category column is blank. Remember to set the Do Not Reply option if you do not want the recipients to be able to respond. On the NextGen® Enterprise PM main toolbar, select the Mailbox button. From the list in the upper-right corner of the window, select Patient Portal. Important: The Patient Portal option does not appear in the list if your NextGen® PxP Portal license is not available or has expired. A list of patient portal folders appears in the left pane. Apply Filters and View Inbox Messages

NextGen® Enterprise Patient Portal displays all received and sent messages in the corresponding folders by default. However, you can apply filters and review specific timeline messages. You can also apply the filters in the following scenarios: When Patient-Specific View is turned on. When applying filters from the Display list. When assigning as Delegates. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM, and then select Mailbox. The Inbox opens in the NextGen Mailbox window. To view specific inbox messages, right-click anywhere in Inbox, and then select from the following: Include Read Items Include Replied-To Items Include Completed Items Include Items Accepted by Others The corresponding messages appear based on the selected filters. Managing Messages Received by a Distribution List

The message status lets everyone in the distribution list know that you are acting on the message. Note: In this document, the term Distribution List refers to both routing policies and online profiles. An online profile works similar to an email distribution list. If an online profile is used, everyone listed in the online profile receives the responses. Patients can only respond to an online profile. They cannot initiate a message. Managing Communication Messages

The Communications category in the NextGen® PxP Portal Mailbox allows you to manage messages exchanged between you and the patient. To see all communication sent and received through the NextGen® PxP Portal in one view for the selected patient, you can select the Patient-Specific View toggle. The count of unread or unsent messages in the Communications and Appointments folders refreshes every time you switch between full view and patient-specific view. You can use the Display list to filter and review specific timeline messages. By default, the last three months messages are displayed. You can do the following: Collaborate Messages Received by Distribution Lists. Accept Messages. Release Messages. Release Messages Accepted by Other Users. Reply to Messages You Accepted. Reassign Messages to Other Routing Policies. Compose and Send Messages. View Failed Messages Forward Messages. Create Tasks.
