Create a Radiology Category

Categories created on the Radiology Configuration practice template are used in the NextGen® Orthopedic Suite to: Group radiology tests Filter grids Configure default performing entities Note: You cannot have duplicate categories. The fields below the Category grid are referred to by the corresponding column name. On the Radiology Configuration practice template, expand the Radiology Picklists panel. Enter the new category name in the Category field below the grid. To require a diagnosis when the category is selected on the Radiology Order template or the Radiology panel of the Single Order template, select Yes for the Require DX for Int Orders check box. To show the MRI/MRA Questions link when the category is selected, select the Yes check box under the Show MRI/MRA column. Click Add. Parent topic: Customize Picklists for Radiology Tests

Customize Picklists for Radiology Tests

You can create new picklists or update picklist values associated with radiology tests in the Radiology Picklists panel on the Radiology Configuration practice template. On the Radiology Configuration practice template, expand the Radiology Picklists panel. To create a new picklist, do the following: Click the field below the Picklist grid and enter the name of the picklist. Click Add. Radiology Picklists panel on the Radiology Configuration template To add a picklist value, do the following: In the Picklist grid, select the desired picklist. Click the field below the Picklist Values grid, and enter the new value. Click Add. Order Radiology Tests in the Radiology Order Template

You can order radiology tests performed and billed in your practice or on at an external facility. On the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Radiology Order. The Radiology Order template opens. Select one of the following options for Performed: Internal Today for radiology tests performed and billed in your practice on the same day. Internal Later for radiology tests performed and billed in your practice on a future encounter. External for radiology tests performed and billed at an external facility. Do one of the following: To place radiology orders with diagnoses, select Dx & Px, and then add the necessary diagnoses. Note: You must add at least one diagnosis to order external radiology tests. You can use the Radiology Picklists panel in the Radiology Configuration template to make diagnosis-code selection mandatory for placing internal radiology test orders, depending on the category. Update Radiology Orders Placed through NextGen® Mobile or the Order Module

You can update the type and category of radiology orders placed through NextGen® Mobile or the Order module. On the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Radiology Order. The Radiology Order template opens. Select the message indicating reviewing the orders. Radiology Orders to Update section on the Radiology Order template Select the order from the Radiology Orders to Update grid. Document Details of Radiology Orders

You can document the details of radiology orders for orthopedic patients. Open the Home or any other applicable template, select Orders from the upper navigation bar, and then select Single Order. Expand the Radiology panel. Select one of the following options for Performed: Internal Today for radiology tests performed and billed in your practice on the same day. Internal Later for radiology tests performed and billed in your practice on a future encounter. External for radiology tests performed and billed at an external facility. Select the category of the radiology test, performing entity, and performing location. Note: The values in Category and Performing Entity determine the tests in the Radiology Tests grid. Category is set to X-ray unless you remove or rename this category in the Radiology Picklists panel of the Radiology Configuration template. Manage Radiology Tests

The tests in the Manage Radiology Tests grid on the Radiology Configuration practice template create a list of tests that corresponds to the Standard option above the Radiology Tests grid on the Radiology Order template and the Radiology panel of the Single Order template. The Manage Radiology Tests grid is packaged with an extensive list of radiology codes but they do not appear until you select a value in one of the filter fields above the grid. You can use the Manage Radiology Tests grid to manage and customize the codes to meet your practice's needs. The Manage Radiology Tests panel enables you to do the following: Assign a category and body part to a test Attach picklists to a radiology test Assign a bilateral code and picklist to a radiology test Indicate the laterality for a code The Category and Body Part fields use picklists from the Radiology Picklists panel.
