Assign ICD-9 or ICD-10 Defaults at the Payer Level

You can assign ICD-9 or ICD-10 defaults at the payer level. This scenario applies to those financial classes in which most payers are switching to ICD-10, but a few may still require you to submit ICD-9 codes. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config practice template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Select the financial class in the top grid. In the field below Payer Name column of the bottom grid, select a payer. Enter effective and expiration dates for that payer. Click Add/Update. Parent topic: Managing Financial Class or Payer

Change Effective and/or Expiration date

You can change the Effective date and/or Expiration date for a financial class that uses ICD-9 codes. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config practice template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Select the financial class from the grid. Edit the dates by clicking in the date fields below the grid. Click Add/Update. The changed dates default the ICD-9 codes for the selected payer until the expiration date. Make a Payer Inactive

You can make a payer inactive. This removes the payer from the bottom grid. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config practice template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Managing Financial Classes and Payers

You can manage financial classes and payers that use ninth or tenth revision codes of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9 or ICD-10). The Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel of the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config template helps you update effective and expiration dates of ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for various financial classes and payers and make an existing payer inactive. Manage Financial Class and Payer Listing By default, all financial classes and payers from the corresponding grids are updated to switch from ICD-9 to ICD-10 (ICD-X) on October 1, 2015. If any financial class or payer did not switch from ICD-9 to ICD-10 on October 1, 2015, you can update the ICD-9 expiration date and ICD-X effective date. If you configure a payer to accept ICD-9 codes, you can add ICD-9 codes on the medical record templates as a part of the patient's diagnosis details and submit the charges to the configured payer. You can configure diagnosis groups and codes for patient's assessment on the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config template. you can also manage financial class and payers that accept ICD 9 codes on this template.
