Assign ICD-9 or ICD-10 Defaults at the Payer Level

You can assign ICD-9 or ICD-10 defaults at the payer level. This scenario applies to those financial classes in which most payers are switching to ICD-10, but a few may still require you to submit ICD-9 codes. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config practice template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Select the financial class in the top grid. Make a Payer Inactive

You can make a payer inactive. This removes the payer from the bottom grid. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config practice template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Change Effective and Expiration Dates for Financial Classes

You can change effective and expiration dates for financial classes that accept ninth revision codes of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9). On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Select the financial class to be updated from the financial class grid. The effective and expiration dates are filled in their respective fields. Change the effective and expiration dates as needed. Select Update. The changes are saved to the financial class grid, and the ICD-9 codes are configured as default for payers in the selected financial class until the expiration date. Use this panel to specify any financial classes/payers that did not switch to ICD-10 on October 1, 2015. By default, all payers show in the grid as switching to ICD-10 (ICD-X) on 10/1/2015. You can change effective and expiration dates for payers that use ninth or tenth revision codes of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9 or ICD-10). By changing effective and expiration dates for ICD-9 or ICD-10 codes at the payer level, you can configure financial classes that contain many payers switching to ICD-10 codes and a few payers still need you to submit ICD-9 codes. On the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config template, expand the Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel. Select the financial class to be updated from the financial class grid. The effective and expiration dates of the selected financial class are filled in their respective fields. Select the payer's name from the field for payer name. Managing Financial Classes and Payers

You can manage financial classes and payers that use ninth or tenth revision codes of International Classification of Diseases (ICD-9 or ICD-10). The Manage Financial Class/Payer Listing panel of the Specialty Diagnosis Group Config template helps you update effective and expiration dates of ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes for various financial classes and payers and make an existing payer inactive. Manage Financial Class and Payer Listing By default, all financial classes and payers from the corresponding grids are updated to switch from ICD-9 to ICD-10 (ICD-X) on October 1, 2015. If any financial class or payer did not switch from ICD-9 to ICD-10 on October 1, 2015, you can update the ICD-9 expiration date and ICD-X effective date. If you configure a payer to accept ICD-9 codes, you can add ICD-9 codes on the medical record templates as a part of the patient's diagnosis details and submit the charges to the configured payer.
