Documenting the Preliminary Exams

Preliminary exams, also called tech exams, can be viewed and documented on the Prelim Exam template by the technician, assistant, or provider. The technician or assistant portion of an encounter is documented from this template. prelim exam The overall exam findings for the current encounter and from the last five encounters appear in the exam data grids on the Prelim Exam - OPH and Provider - OPH templates. Abnormal findings for an exam cause an alert in red font to appear for the exam in the panel title bar. Historical exam data appears on the Home Page – OPH and Oph EyeTech templates. Exam panels may have links to view historical exam findings and open templates with additional functionality, such as the Graph and Draw modules. Import Data from Optical Studies Module

Before you begin To import data from the Optical Studies module, you must first set up the Marco Connect Interface with a Marco Connect device. You can capture readings for tests during the patient exam with an interfaced Marco Connect device and import the values into the templates. Tests include lensometry, refractions, auto-refraction, glasses prescriptions, keratometry, tonometry, glare and contrast, and vergence. From the left navigation pane, click the Pre-Screening link to open the Prescreening – OPH template. The top of the Pre-screening - OPH template, showing the Import from Optical Studies button that is visible when you have a Marco Connect interfaced device. Click the Import from Optical Studies button. Note: The Import from Optical Studies button only appears if an interface with Marco Connect is present. Readings taken by the interfaced device are imported into NextGen® Enterprise EHR and appear in the corresponding test data fields on the Prescreening – OPH template. If

Importing Data from Marco Connect Interfaced Devices

You can capture test findings performed on an interfaced Marco Connect optical device and import the values for lensometry, refractions, autorefraction, glasses prescriptions, keratometry, tonometry, glare and contrast, and vergence into the Ophthalmic templates. The Marco Connect interface is used with the Optical Interface module to import all data collected from the device to the Optical Studies module and then to the corresponding fields on the Prescreening – OPH template. Technician or Assistant Office Visit Workflow

Technician or assistant workflow for a patient encounter may begin on the Home Page - OPH template when the patient first arrives. You have the option to start or continue the Technician or Assistant workflow on the Intake – OPH template. Access Home Page - OPH How to access the Ophthalmology Home Page template.
