Optometry Provider Workflow

The provider workflow in the Optometry specialty is similar to the Ophthalmology specialty. The table below provides links to the related tasks for each panel on the Provider - OPT template. Document a Retinal Laser Procedure

Workflow for documenting a laser procedure starts in the upper left of the Retina Office Procedures - Laser - OPH template and flows down and across for each section. Access the Retina Office Procedures – Laser – OPH template. Document consent for the procedure. In the upper section of the template, document the following information: Click Category and select a category of surgery from the list: Macula Retina Vitreous/Periph Click Diagnosis and select a diagnosis using the diagnosis search tool. The code associated with the selected diagnosis appears in the corresponding Code field. Click the Status field corresponding to the Diagnosis and select a status from the list that opens. Click the Anesthesia field and select a method of anesthesia from the list. Click the Procedure field and select a procedure from the list: Cryopexy Gas-fluid exchange Paracentesis Pneumatic retinopexy To enter a procedure not listed, select the top blank line and free text. Edit Ophthalmic Diagnostic Order in the Order Panel

On the Provider tab, expand the Orders panel, select Diagnostic Orders from the Filters section.A grid with existing diagnostic tests appears. Select an order from the grid. oph diagnostic order editing Update the order details in the appropriate sections. Enter a test note or complication, if any. Click Follow Up to add follow up details, if applicable. Enter result or interpretation by using either free text or My Phrases or select from the Interpretation picklist. Note: For information on configuring interpretations for the diagnostic tests, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Setup Guide for NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite. If an ordered test has been performed, click Test Performed to update the status of the test. If an ordered test has been completed, click Test Completed to update the status of the test. Add a Lab Order

Open the Provider - OPH template, expand the Orders panel, and then select Labs from the Filters section. Click Add.The Orders Console window opens. orders console window Select appropriate diagnosis from the Select Diagnosis grid. Select an appropriate lab test from the Select Tests grid.The selected test appears in the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests grid. Scheduling and Tasking Retinal Tests and Office Procedures

Ophthalmology testing and office procedures can be ordered and tasked to a technician from the specialty-specific Order Tests - OPH template and scheduled for today and in the future. Note: For most Ophthalmology diagnostic tests, you can only perform and document a test one time during an encounter. To perform the test again, you must create a new encounter.
