section.

Select the
Enable The Joint Commission requirements
check box to enable The Joint Commission standards.
Return to the top of the template and click
Save and Close

Joint Commission Standards Configuration and Ophthalmology
The Joint Commission Standards (formerly known as the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations or JCAHO) configuration setting for all NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates is found on the Practice Configuration practice template. This setting should be selected by those practices that are required to adhere to The Joint Commission Standards. When the Enable The Joint Commission Standards check box is selected, all additional fields and links related to The Joint Commission related content found within NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is enabled. Occasionally, this may affect encounter documentation workflow. Enabling the Joint Commission requirement gives a hard stop to workflow, such that allergies must be documented/updated before anything else is done. If you select the Enable The Joint Commission requirements check box, the provider or nurse must enter the details in the fields that meet the Joint Commission standards before proceeding with the workflow. Set Up the Joint Commission Standards
The Joint Commission standards configuration for all NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates is found on the Practice Configuration template. If you enable the Joint Commission standards in the Practice Configuration practice template, all fields and links related to the Joint Commission are enabled. When you enable the Joint Commission standards, you need to document and review allergy information before recording any other patient data during the encounter. An alert message appears indicating that allergy information cannot be blank in the specified template. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > System \ Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Select Template window Select the Practice tab. Under Show, select All. A list of templates appear. Double-click Practice Configuration. The Practice Configuration template opens. In The Joint Commission Standards row, select the Enable The Joint Commission requirements check box. Close the Practice Configuration template

Get Started with Ophthalmology in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine
The NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine for Ophthalmology include workflow for three areas of Ophthalmology: General, Retina, and Ambulatory Surgical Center (ASC). Before you begin to use the Ophthalmology templates, setup and configuration must be performed. Note: Before using the newer framework-based Ophthalmology template set, content should be reviewed on the Framework Content system template. Template configuration settings specific to General Ophthalmology, Retina, and Ophthalmology ASC are made using the Eye Configuration practice template, and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine practice level configurations are made using the Practice Configuration practice template. Clients should also review and update custom picklists using the Custom Picklists system template. This section covers the different work flows available for Ophthalmology, and additional setup considerations for Ophthalmology. Access the Eye Configuration Practice Template
From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. On the Select Template window, select the Practice tab. In the Show section, select All to see a complete list of practice templates. To access the Eye Configuration template, do one of the following: Double-click Eye Configuration. Select Eye Configuration and then click OK. The Eye Configuration practice template opens.
