Ophthalmic Provider Configuration Options

The Provider Specialty grid on the Eye Configuration practice template displays details for providers that have been set up with special configurations and permissions specific to NextGen® Ophthalmic Suite including: Assign providers to different sub-specialties of Ophthalmology. Setting the sub-specialty for Ophthalmology providers causes template navigation to automatically be configured for their sub-specialty when they open the Ophthalmology templates. This setting is optional for generalists. Give privileges to individual providers to be able to copy forward portions of their last exams to a new encounter. By default, the Copy last exam forward option is not selected. Allow the Provider HPI Details section of the Ophthalmology Generic HPI to be editable by the technician or scribe for an individual provider. Access the Eye Configuration Practice Template

From the File menu, select System \ Practice Template. On the Select Template window, select the Practice tab. In the Show section, select All to see a complete list of practice templates. To access the Eye Configuration template, do one of the following: Double-click Eye Configuration. Select Eye Configuration and then select OK. The Eye Configuration practice template opens. Copy Last Exam

The Copy Last Exam setting is found on the Ophthalmology Provider Specialty practice template which opens from the Providers data grid on the Eye Configuration practice template. When setting up an Ophthalmology provider, selecting the use copy last exam forward check box configures the system to pull information from the last exam forward to the current exam. On Ophthalmology exam templates in run-time, a separate Copy last exam check box is available for each eye and each part of the exam (such as external, slit lamp, and posterior) when this setting is selected for a provider. Note: In this version of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, Copy Last Exam pulls forward information from the last time the exam templates were opened to the current exam. Exam templates include: Brief Examination (eyeBriefExam), External Examination (eyeExternalExam), Slit Lamp Examination (eyeSlitExam), and Provider - OPH (oph_provider). Sig Filter for Eyeprescriptions

In previous versions of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine, eye prescriptions were ordered from within the Ophthalmology templates. The customizable Sig Filter for " EyePrescriptions " was designed in NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine version 7.7 to allow typical ophthalmic Sigs to be loaded into a list for ease of prescribing ophthalmic medications, drops, or ointments. At this time, all medications are ordered from the Medications module to facilitate electronic prescribing, and this section is not used. Note: Effective with NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine version 8.3, this feature is being retained for historical purposes but is no longer being used to filter ophthalmic medications. The following templates are used for configuring settings and content for Ophthalmology. Template Description Eye Configuration This practice template is where you configure settings specific to the Ophthalmology specialty.
