Medication Alert Configuration Panel

Use the Medication Alert Configuration panel to set thresholds for alerts to appear on the Medication Inventory panel header on the Inventory Management template when a medication reaches low quantities or nears expiration. The thresholds also appear on the Low Quantity and Expiring Medication reports. The alerts are based on a specific medication and unit type and are applied to all lot numbers of that medication in inventory. You can set any alert to Inactive status so that it does not appear, and then restore it to Active status at any time. The Miscellaneous Configuration system template has two panels, used to enable the Received Date field for medication inventory, and to configure Alert Thresholds for medications that are expiring. Add Medications to the Inventory by Scanning Barcode

You can add medications to the inventory by scanning the barcode printed on the medication package. Note: You cannot add immunizations to the inventory using Scan Barcode button in the Medication Inventory panel on the MICS Inventory Management system template for now. This will be enabled in a future release. However, you can add immunizations to the inventory manually using Immunizations Configuration system template. On the Inventory Management template, expand the Medication Inventory panel. Select the Add option appearing below the medication grid. The results are as follows: The Scan Barcode button appears. The Vendor, Cost, and Invoice # fields appear, if the Require Invoice #s for Items check box is selected on the Invoice Configuration system template. Invoice Details

Use the Invoice Details panel to see all medications attached to an invoice. This panel only shows information if: You have marked the Require Invoice #’s for Items check box at the top of the template Medications added to inventory have been attached to an invoice. Add Medications to the Inventory Manually

On the Inventory Management template, you can manually add non-vaccine medications to the medication inventory. On the Inventory Management template, expand the Medication Inventory panel. Select the Add option appearing below the medication grid. Note: If the Require Invoice #s for Items check box is selected on the Invoice Configuration template, and you select the Add option, the Vendor, Cost, and Invoice # fields appear below the medication grid. After entering the details of the medication, you can add values in the fields. The Received Date field appears displaying today's date if the Enable Received Date check box is selected on the Miscellaneous Configuration template, the medication is received on some other day, and when you select the Add option available under the medication grid. Managing Medication Dispensing

With the medication dispensing functionality on the Order Management template, you can document and manage inventory for medications that are dispensed in-house. The Medication Dispensing Restocking fields enables you to indicate any changes to actual dispensing or administering records. You can document information related to the following: Patient-specific education Counseling regarding birth control methods Tracking medication dispensing with charge capture Refill tracking Patient-specific, location specific, or practice-specific inventory The medications configured on the Medication Configuration template appears on the Order Management template. You can search by the generic name or brand name of the medication, change the display name of the medication, and manage the inventory of the medication based on the location.
