Significant Events for Sexual Profile Changes
The application tracks changes to gender identity, sexual orientation, and preferred pronoun. When a patient's preferred pronoun, gender identity, or sexual orientation changes, the application generates a significant event. This event displays on the Significant Events report, the Advanced Audit report, and is tracked in the Chart History. Update Gender Identity in the Template
You can add the gender identity for selected patient. The gender identities appear in a template if the patient chart has gender details recorded. Select a patient. Open the template which has ethnicity details. The Gender and Gender Identity Order appears in the data sheet. Double-click the data grid. The Gender window opens. In the Available Genders section, select the gender, and then select Add. The genders are added in the Display these genders in this order section. To the selected genders, do the following as per your requirement: To remove, select gender, and then select Remove. To rearrange, select gender, and then select Move Up or Move Down. Select OK. The genders are also updated in the Gender Identity field of Modify Patient Information window. Note: In the Gender Identity list, if you select the Additional gender category or other, please specify check box, the specified value does not display the label name. Parent topic: Using Templates

Adding Information to Person or Patient Profiles
You can enter the following data on the Demographics tab of the Add Person Information or Add Patient Information window, General Information that includes name, sexual profile, social security number, and birth date. Significant events are generated when a patient changes their gender identity, sexual orientation, or preferred pronoun. Contact Information that includes phone numbers, email address, and preferred contact methods. Demographic Information that includes marital status, student status, preferred language, religious information, and dental and primary provider. You can also enroll the patient in the Enterprise Chart feature. Insurance Information that includes insurers, authorizations, referrals, and eligibility inquiries. The optional and mandatory fields that appear on the Add Person Information or Add Patient Information window can be configured by the system administrator in the enterprise and practice preferences in File Maintenance. Identify SOGI Fields as Protected Content
The fields on Protected Content tab identify a patient's sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI). If any of these fields are identified as protected content, then a user must have the appropriate security permissions in System Administrator to view the field data. For example, a patient identifies their current gender as Male and their preferred pronoun as She or They. When you select the Preferred Pronoun field, only then users with the appropriate security permissions can view the data in the Preferred Pronoun field. To access this tab use one of the following paths: In NextGen® Enterprise PM, select Preferences > Enterprise Preferences > Protected Content. In File Maintenance, select Master Files > System > Enterprises. Select the applicable Enterprise and then Preferences > Protected Content. The Enterprise Preferences > Protected Content tab opens. Add General Information for Persons or Patients
You must add the person or patient's general identification information, such as the first and last name, social security number, birth date, sexual profile, and preferred pronoun. General information for a patient or person appears as a header on every tab of the patient or person information windows. Open NextGen® Enterprise. Open the People Lookup window, and then select New. The Add Person Information window opens. Select a Prefix preferred by the person or patient. Mr, Mrs, or Reverend. Enter the Last name and First name for the person or patient. Both are required fields. Select the Previous Last link and then enter the previous last name of the person or patient. Select the Previous First link and then enter the previous first name of the person or patient. Enter the person or patient's Middle name. Viewing Patient Chart Details
In the Chart Details tab of Patient Information, you can view practice-related information of the patient, such as the patient's provider, medical recorder number, and privacy notice information. You can view additional patient information in eight user-defined fields set up in practice preferences.
