Template Field Types

The following table explains the types of template fields listed in the order that they appear on the Fields toolbar. Field Description Label Labels enable you to add information to a template. You can set up a label as a header for the template or simply to enter text viewable template users. Data Entry (Edit) Data entry fields enable you to enter information into NextGen® Enterprise EHR through templates. These fields can be used to enter time, date, and numeric values, as well as user-defined text. Check Box Check boxes enable you to enter data by selecting or clearing a predefined response. Push Button You can use buttons to trigger several different actions. Launching another template or module within NextGen® Enterprise EHR is the most common purpose of buttons. Data Sheet Data sheets display data from NextGen® Enterprise EHR tables in tabular or grid format. Insert Data Entry

When you are logged in as KBM admin in Template Editor, you can modify the properties of NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine templates. In Template Editor, drag Edit from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Data Entry window opens. In Table, the template name appears if the table is saved. Do one of the following: To create fields that are native to the table associated with this template, leave Table blank. To share fields with another template, select that template from Table To create a local template field, select local from Table. In Field, do one of the following: To create a new field, enter the name in Field. You can use up to 30 alphanumeric characters. Do not begin the name with a number or underscore or include any spaces. To share a field from another template, select that template from Table and then from Field, select the field you want to use. In Type, do one of the following: Select Date to validate the date. Select Text fo

Insert an Order Control Field

You can use an order control field on a template in two ways: Insert the field on a Medical Records template to enable a user to view or enter lab, radiology, or immunizations order or result information in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at run time. Insert the field on a Practice or Practice Popup template to enable a user to manage all patient orders across a practice and update practice order filters in NextGen® Enterprise EHR at run time. Note: You can also use the Patient Lab Order trigger to order lab or radiology tests. You can use both the Patient Lab Order trigger and an order control field on a template. When the trigger is executed, the information displayed from the order control field can be refreshed to include the new lab or radiology order. Drag the Order Control icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Order Control window opens. Note: You may need to enlarge your template to make room for the field. In the Name text box,

Insert an Active Image Field

To enable an active image, set up triggers for each of the active regions within an active image. Drag the Active Image icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Active Image window opens. From the Image list, select the image you want. A preview of the selected image appears. Note: All active images must be created using the Image Region Editor Utility. To reposition the field on the template, enter the appropriate numeric values to replace the current vertical and horizontal coordinates displayed in the Position boxes. Note: The Auto Size check box is selected permanently by default. To hide the active image when the template is opened, select the Hidden check box. Select the check box for the border Style. Insert a Patient Registry Component

The NextGen Care® Population Management Hub enables practices to identify patient populations and perform actions, such as sending communications, based on specific qualifying criteria. The NextGen Care® Population Management Hub makes use of memorized reports to define the criteria and generate a list (or registry) of patients that qualify. You can insert a Patient Registry component field on a practice template. You can hide the component when the template is opened using the Hidden property. You can also directly view the Population Management Hub from the View menu in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Insert a GET Component

You can insert a Graphical Exam Tool (GET) component field on a Medical Records template. You can place one or more GET components on a template. You can hide the component when the template is launched using the Hidden property. For more information on the Graphical Exam Tool component, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Graphical Exam Tool User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Drag the Component icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Hosted Component Field Properties window opens. In the Field Name text box, enter the name you want to assign. Note: The name GET is reserved for system use and cannot be entered here. From the Component Name list, select GraphExamTool. The Profile Name field and Settings button are enabled. The Settings button enables you to add, update, remove, or view the settings for an existing profile.
