Set Up Template Preference Properties

The Use Alias option is available only on user-defined copies of an existing NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine. You can clear the Use Alias preference to point all triggers to the original NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine.

You can turn on a preference to attach a sidebar template to another template. You can select the location of the sidebar in the template, and you can turn on the Auto Hide the Sidebar option. This functionality is available only if the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine is locked down.

Open Template Editor.
Open template sub template, template snippet, or popup template, and then do one of the following:
- Double-click anywhere outside a field on the template.
- Right-click anywhere outside a field on the template, and then select Properties.
- From the Menu bar, select View > Properties.
- On the Main toolbar, select Properties.
The Template Properties window opens.

Note: The Comments tab appears only while viewing properties when a template snippet or subtemplate is open.
Select the Preferences tab.
To add or remove a check mark, in the Alias section, select the Use Alias checkbox.
From the Attach Sidebar Template list in the Sidebar section, select the sidebar template you want to attach.
The other options on the window become available. You can select the Left or Right option to display the sidebar template on the side. The default side is left.
To retract or hide the sidebar template when the parent template is opened, select the Auto Hide the Sidebar checkbox.

Note: The sidebar preferences govern how the sidebar template is initialized at run time. Sidebar functionality added at run time is not saved. For example, if you turn on Auto Hide the Sidebar, and then expand it at run time, the sidebar template remains in the retracted state initially when the template is opened.
In the Template Popup section, select the template.
In the Size section, enter the dimensions for the template in Height and Width.
The default is 2000 by 2000.
You can also resize a popup template by dragging its sizing handles (black squares on the dashed border of the black bounding rectangle). The new dimension appear in Height and Width. The size of the popup template impacts the display of a vertical scroll bar at run time.
Note: The width of a popup template cannot be smaller than the width of any field on the template. The template size adjusts the width of collapsible panels on the template, as in the first Size box on the Collapsible Panel or Insert Panel properties window.
To optimize the appearance of radio buttons and checkboxes to align with enhanced template styles, in the Template UI Style section, select the Enhanced checkbox.
To set the Panels preference, enter the value in Pos X.
The value appears in the first Position box on the Collapsible Panel or Insert Panel properties window. You can specify the horizontal starting position (x axis) for collapsible panels on the main template.

Note: You can drag and drop panels within the same column.
To add two columns in the template, enter the value in the Cols box.
You can set up to a maximum of two columns, You can change the width of the panels using the Width box. You can also configure the margin between the columns using Margin box.
Select OK.

Open Template Editor.
