In the
Send Fax
window, select the
Use area code rules
check box (default).
Select
Edit
to open the
Area Code Rules
window.
The window lists any existing area code rules.
To add an area code rule:
Enter the
Area code
.
Do one of the following:
Select the
Dial
check box, and enter the dialing rule.
Select the
Include the area code
check box to dial the area code and number only.
Select
Add New
to add the rule.
To delete an area code rule, select the rule in the
Area Code Rules
section, and select
Delete
.
To modify an area code rule:
Select the rule you want to modify in the
Area Code Rules
section.
Select a different check box or change the dialing rule.
Select
Update
.
Select
Close

Fax Patient Documents
Before you begin To be able to fax patient documents, the access rights for Operations > Faxing > Documents must be enabled in the System Administrator application. You can fax one or more patient documents directly to a selected destination. Generate a new patient document, or open an existing patient document. From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Menu bar, select File and select Fax. Note: This option appears on the File menu only when you have a patient document in view. If you have not previously saved your document, the Save Document window opens. Select OK. The Send Fax window opens. Select Destination criteria. The Send Fax window defaults the Destination criteria based on the last selection made for the type of the item being faxed. For example, if you last faxed a medication to a specific pharmacy, the next time you try to fax a medication, the Destination is automatically set to Pharmacy. Faxing Universal Preferences
The following lists the Faxing Universal Preferences. Preference Description Enable Fax Cover Page Enables the Cover Page check box on the Send Fax window. This setting overrides the Require Fax Cover Page and Send Fax Cover Page by Default Universal Preference settings. External Fax Printer Alias Sets up the printer alias at the enterprise level so that users can fax from local workstations. If the alias is different in the ngconfig.ini file, it overrides this Universal Preference. Fax Cover Page Indicates the default cover page to use for faxing. Usually it is the default page created by the CoverPage Editor Utility. You can also set this preference at the user level. Fax Queue Path Path for queuing files to be faxed. Require Fax Cover Page Selects the Cover Page check box on the Send Fax window. It also disables the check box to prevent users from clearing it. Add Contact Information
This information consists of the patient or person's phone numbers, email address, and preferred contact methods. You can enable a significant event when changes occur to any of the contact information. When a user accesses a record with contact information, you can enable a system alert. Open the Demographics tab of the Add Person Information or Add Patient Information window. To display an alert when the contact information is accessed, select the Generate System Alert check box. To enter an international phone number and zip code, select the International link in blue text. The International Contact Information window opens. Enter the international numbers for the Home phone, Work phone, and zip code. Select OK. Enter the applicable phone numbers and email address for the patient. The field under the phone number fields and email field are for comments. Note: Select the N/A check box to disable data entry in a phone number or email field. Set Up a Pharmacy
In File Maintenance, open the Pharmacies master file. The Pharmacies List window opens. The Mapped column displays a check mark for each pharmacy linked to an ePrescribing pharmacy. Do one of the following: To add a new item, select Open Menu and then select New. To modify an item, select the item in the list, select Open Menu and then select Open. You can also double-click to open the item. In the Pharmacy field, enter the full name of the pharmacy. Note: To comply with the latest National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) script standards, the Pharmacy field in the Pharmacy master file has been updated to accommodate up to 70 characters. Fill in the applicable fields as per the table: Field Description Store Number Address/ City/ State/ Zip/ Country/ County The first space is for street number and name. The second space is for other address details, such as suite numer. If the ZIP code table is set up, you can enter the ZIP code and the city, state, country are automatic
