Viewing Morphine Milligrams Equivalent (MME) Value

In the Medications module, when you select any controlled substance medication, the application displays the MME/Day value for the medication by calculating the composition of the medication and the added SIG. It also displays the Total MME/Day value by adding the MME/Day value of the already prescribed medications. You can select MME Reference to read more about the CDC guidelines on prescribing the controlled substance medication. Note: The system administrator must enable the MME Calculation in File Maintenance for you to view MME/Day or Total MME/Day value in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, On selecting Accept, the medication gets added to the prescribed medications list and the Total MME/Day value gets updated. Note: If the selected medication is not a controlled substance medication, the application displays the MME/Day count as 0. OpenFile Maintenance. From theMaster Filesmenu, selectSystem > Practices.ThePractices Listwindow opens. From thePracticeslist, double-click a practice.TheModify Practice Informationwindow opens. SelectPreferences.ThePractice Preferenceswindow opens. From thePreference Liston the left pane, selectMedication. Medication option is selected from the Preference List To view the MME calculation in the Medications module, select the Display MME Calculation check box.The MME calculation per day and total MME for the prescribed medications appear in the Medications module. When you select the Display MME Calculation check box, the Display MME/Day Threshold Limit Increase Alert (MME/Day) field is enabled and selected by default. If you clear the Display MME Calculation check box, the field retains the counter value and is disabled. The (MME/Day) field has 1 to 999 numeric values, which indicates the threshold limit of MME per day for a patient. You cannot leave the field blank, set the value as

Morphine Milligrams Equivalent (MME) Calculation

The Morphine Milligrams Equivalent (MME) calculation feature provides information about the patient's MME load and alerts you when the MME load exceeds the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) risk threshold. The MME calculation feature does the following: Calculates and displays MME per active opioid medication in the Medications module. Calculates and displays the total MME for a patient in the Medications module. Alerts you when the MME load for a patient exceeds the risk threshold . The MME/Day value and Total MME value of a patient appear in the following places in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Medications module Rxfill requests in the Workflow module RxChange requests in the Workflow module Note: The MME/Day and Total MME fields do not appear if MME calculation is not set up for the practice in File Maintenance.
