The Morphine Milligrams Equivalent (MME) calculation feature provides information about the patient's MME load and alerts you when the MME load exceeds the current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) risk threshold.
The MME calculation feature does the following:
- Calculates and displays MME per active opioid medication in the Medications module.
- Calculates and displays the total MME for a patient in the Medications module.
- Alerts you when the MME load for a patient exceeds the risk threshold .
The MME/Day value and Total MME value of a patient appear in the following places in
NextGen® Enterprise EHR.
- Medications module
- Rxfill requests in the Workflow module
- RxChange requests in the Workflow module
Note: The MME/Day and Total MME fields do not appear if MME calculation is not set up for the practice in File Maintenance.
