Person and Patient Information

In NextGen® Enterprise the initial information entered for a person or patient, such as name, birth date, address, phone, etc., is known as the "demographic record." All demographic records have a system-assigned person number and are part of the Master Person Index (MPI) in the database. This section provides information on how to add and maintain demographic records for persons and patients within the practice. Demographic information is entered when creating and updating person and patient records in NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, and NextGen Optical Management. Patient Data Collected

Although the procedure to add patients is the same, the data collected by NextGen® Enterprise EHR, NextGen® Enterprise PM, and NextGen® Optical Management differs, as shown in the following table. Managing Employer Information

On the Employer tab, you can enter employer information for a person or patient, including the name, address, and phone and fax numbers for the employer. In addition, you can enter the person or patient's occupation and employment status. Information on the Employer tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Managing Demographic Information Managing Demographic Information On the Demographics tab, you can enter general information for a person or patient, such as address, demographics, contact phone numbers, contact, insurance, and notification methods for the patient. If your practice is licensed for EDI, the link appears on this window. When you select the link, the EDI Messaging window opens where you can view the patient's notification preferences for balance reminders, appointment reminders, and recall plans. Viewing History Information

The History tab appears only for existing persons and patients. It does not appear when creating a record for a new person or patient. On this tab, you can view the history of modifications made to the person or patient's information on the following tabs; Demographics, Status, Client Defined, Employer, UDS, Pharmacy, and Chart Details. Information on the History tab is stored at the system level; therefore, all practices in all enterprises share the same information for a person or patient. Note: History information cannot be modified or deleted.
