Suppressing DUR Alerts
Administrators have the ability to suppress specific DUR interactions for a set time or forever for a specific patient and user. DUR suppression is enabled through File Maintenance. System-level and practice-level preferences determine if a user can suppress DUR interactions and the types and limits of DUR interaction suppression. Example: Because Sinus Node Dysfunction is treated by a pacemaker, there is a contraindication alert when beta-blocker is prescribed and a patient has sinus Node Dysfunction as the diagnosis. This contraindication alert is invalid if the patient has a pacemaker. While the pacemaker in this scenario invalidates the alert because multiple diagnoses are not being applied, a provider in this scenario would be alerted every time they add the Sinus Node Dysfunction as an assessment, which is every time they do a pacemaker check. A user may therefore decide to suppress DUR interaction alerts that would be displayed when beta-blockers are prescribed for a diagnosis o
