Enabling the PDR BRIEF

When a prescriber prescribes a medication in the Medications module and if you enable the PDR ® (Physician's Desk Reference) BRIEF, it allows drug safety information from the PDR web service to display in the PDR BRIEF window, if applicable. You can enable and disable PDR BRIEF at both the practice and user levels. The settings must be enabled at both levels to allow the PDR BRIEF to display. Note: You can override the setting in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR user preferences. You must enable in NextGen® Communication Services PDR Product Listing Import in the Patient Saving and Education Category to view the PDR BRIEF. Configure Medication Verification

You can enable or disable medication verification. If you enable medication verification, you are prompted to enter your password when you fax, print, or ePrescribe a medication even if the medication is not a controlled substance. Medication Verification In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, from the Main menu, select Tools > Preferences.The Preferences window opens. Select the Medications tab. Do one of the following: To enable medication verification, select Use Medication Verification. To disable medication verification, clear Use Medication Verification. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, from the Tools menu, select Preferences. From the Preferences window, select the Medications tab. In the Patient Education and Savings Programs section, select Display PDR® BRIEF. Note: If you clear the checkbox, you will not be able to view the PDR Brief content. Open File Maintenance. From Master Files > System, select Practices. From the Practices List window, double-click a practice.The Modify Practice Information window opens. Modify Practice Information Select Preferences.The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preference List, select Medication.
