Set Preferences to View NextGen® Enterprise PM Alerts in NextGen Enterprise EHR

You must enable the following practice preferences to include NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts in NextGen® Enterprise EHR and display visual indicators for them on the Patient Information Card. Note: You can add or edit these alerts only from NextGen® Enterprise PM. Access NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the Admin menu, select Preferences > Practice. The Practice Preferences window opens. In the Preference List pane, select Patient Information Bar. Alert Types

NextGen® Enterprise EHR alerts are categorized into the following alert types: Chart Communication Prescribing Orders Ophthalmology Confidential Quality/ACO Cardiology HIPAA Visit Population Health Note: The Population Health application is now called NextGen Care® Outreach. Alerts may be displayed in NextGen® Enterprise EHR from the NextGen Care Outreach Administration application. The alerts enable providers who view the patient chart to know if the patient received an automated communication from an outreach campaign initiated by the practice. The provider can see the nature of that outreach campaign from the alerts. After the patient appointment is kept, the related alerts go away. The alert messages and the preferences are configured in the NextGen Care Outreach Administration application. View Patient Alerts

You can view a quick list of all available NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts for the patient on the Patient Information Card (PIC). You can also open the Patient Alerts window to view, acknowledge, add, edit, snooze, and remove the patient's NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts. Note: The Alerts button in red color with a numeric count; indicates that there are patient alerts available. For example, . When there are no alerts, the button appears as . Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. To view a quick list of available alerts for the patient; on the PIC, hover over Alerts.The Alerts table appears listing the patient alerts by type and description. Alerts that require acknowledgement, appear at the top of the list, denoted by red-colored text and the indicator. Assign NextGen® Enterprise EHR Alerts for Individual Patients

For each alert type, you can select an existing alert message or create a new one. You can select options to display an alert in bold red type and show the alert in the Patient Alerts window when you open the patient's chart. You cannot select a Patient has expired alert on the Add/Edits Alerts window. You can only add this alert from the Modify Patient Information window. You must start documentation from an NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine template for some alerts. Open the patient's chart. Do one of the following: If no current alerts exist, select the gray Alerts button on the Patient Information Card. Note: This function is enabled only for NextGen® Enterprise EHR alerts. If current alerts exist, select the red Alerts button to display the Patient Alerts window. On the EHR tab, select Add/Edit. Visual Alert Indicators on the Patient Information Card

The color of the Alerts button on the Patient Information Card indicates the presence of alerts. If your practice preferences are configured for viewing only NextGen® Enterprise EHR alerts, the Alerts button turns red in color when there are NextGen® Enterprise EHR alerts available for the patient. Otherwise, the button is transparent. If you configure the practice preferences to include NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts and show a visual indicator for alerts, the button turns red in color when either NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts are available for the patient. If there are only NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts and the preference to show a visual indicator is not enabled, the button remains transparent. The number appearing on the Alerts button indicates the total alerts count. If you configure the practice preferences to include and show a visual indicator for NextGen® Enterprise PM alerts, the total alerts count collectively indicates NextGen® Enterprise EHR and N

Viewing, Acknowledging, and Assigning Alerts

You can set up NextGen® Enterprise EHR patient alerts to inform providers of specific concerns about the current patient and have them acknowledge the information. You can assign alerts to individual patients, or if you are a system administrator, you can assign alerts to all patients in a practice. To perform alerts actions, you must have access rights under Modules, Medical Records, Patient Alerts in System Administrator.
