Unlock a Patient Chart in Edit Mode

In Review or Edit Patient mode, if a specific occurrence of patient selection is locked (for example, by loss of connectivity to the database), you can release the "orphaned" session and make the patient available for editing. For more information about the Review and Edit Patient modes, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Patient Demographics Guide for NextGen Enterprise. All of the options in the Admin menu require specific user rights and permissions and are available only to users in a System Administrator role. Patient Modes

The following types of patient modes are available: One patient mode enable patients to fill out a particular template (see Turn on Patient Mode for Template Entry) with no access to the remaining functionality. This patient mode provides a full-screen template view similar to Full Screen mode, but locks down the application. The other two patient modes are part of an optional feature that NextGen® Enterprise EHR offers to comply with the specific guidelines provided by the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology (CCHIT). Edit and Review modes enable you to handle patient charts in a more efficient way and create a more secure and easily sustainable environment for patients' medical data. This feature is enabled by the Enable CCHIT check box on the NextGen System Info window in the System Administrator application. Update a Procedure in a Patient Chart

You can modify an existing procedure as long as it is not assigned to a locked encounter. Also, you cannot make changes to a procedure that has an associated charge processed within NextGen® Enterprise PM. If you have the Auto-closing option enabled in the Practice Preferences and the charges associated with the selected procedure have been processed through NextGen® Enterprise PM prior to midnight of the previous day, the Financial Data cannot be modified due to the 24 hr rule message window opens. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. On the Encounter History tab, select an existing encounter or create an encounter. On the Top Toolbar, select . Open the Patient Information Bar in the Patient Chart

Before you begin You must set the Practice and user preferences, to enable the Patient Information Bar in the patient chart. For more information on the patient chart, go to the NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest Accounts and Patient Records User Guide for NextGen® Enterprise PM. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. From the main toolbar, select Chart. The Patient Lookup window opens. Search for and select the patient using the available search criteria. The patient chart opens displaying the Patient Information Bar, where you can exclusively select Patient Chart Lookup and Open Menu to search for patients, set an active patient, and manage the NextGen® PxP Portal enrollment.
