Application and Patient Information

The title bar appears at the top of NextGen® Enterprise EHR main window and displays the application and patient name. When you open a module, the module name also appears on the title bar. If you open other items, such as templates, documents, or images, the item name and time stamp appear on the title bar. In case of images, the image dimensions also appear. You can display the following additional patient identifiers based on your practice preferences settings. Main Menu

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR Main menu is located at the top of the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Main window. It contains the following options: File, Edit, View, Tools, Admin, Utilities, Window, and Help. Note: The following additional Main menu options are available based on active module selections within NextGen® Enterprise EHR: Menu Name Description Default Available only when templates are active. Standard Top Toolbar Buttons

The following table lists standard buttons and their description. Button Description Logout Logs you off, but does not close the application. Save Saves your work in the active window. Clear Clears the data you have entered in the active window. Delete Deletes the data you have entered in the active window. Patient Opens the Patient Lookup window. Edit Toggles between the Review and Edit Patient modes if you are using this feature. For more information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Patient Demographics Guide for NextGen Enterprise. Inbox Toggles the Workflow module on and off. PAQ Opens the Provider Approval Queue (PAQ). PM Opens NextGen NextGen® Enterprise PM for the current patient. DM Opens NextGen® Document Management for the current patient. Overview of the Main Window

The NextGen® Enterprise EHR main window components include the Title Bar, Main Menu, Top Toolbar, Patient Information Card, Quick Buttons panel, Encounter History/Categories view panel, and calendars. You can configure the practice preferences settings in File Maintenance to display the Multiple Document Interface (MDI) tabs and customize the system date format. NextGen® Enterprise EHR supports standard-keyboard shortcuts for several functions of the main window. Medical Records Preferences

Use the Medical Records preferences to set up the default provider and location. When the preferences are saved, the selected location and provider are retained the next time when you open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. If the location and provider have not been set, when you log on, the Select Location window opens followed by the Select Provider window. These windows also appear if the location and provider are blank when you perform a patient lookup (select the Patient button or Select Patient from the File menu). You can select a different provider for the same location or a different location for the same provider, or change both the location and provider. You can also filter provider selection by the associated location. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the Tools menu, select Preferences. The Preferences window opens.
