When expiring a patient, you can stop active recalls and/or cancel future appointments. Depending on how your practice is setup you may be required to enter a reason for stopping a recall and/or cancelling future appointments. When stopping active recalls for expired patients, you have the option of tracking the reason the recall was stopped based on your practice preference settings. To track the reason the recall was manually stopped, do the following: Add Recall Stop Reasons in File Maintenance Enable Tracking of Recall Plan Stop Reasons in Practice Preferences Add Recall Stop Reasons in File Maintenance You can add reasons to stop recalls for expired patients. When canceling future appointments for expired patients, you have the option of tracking the reason for cancelling the appointment based on your practice preference setting. Stop Active Recalls for an Expired Patient
Stopping active recalls for an expired patient involves the following steps: Update date of expiry in the patient records Stop Active Recalls Open the Modify Person Information or Modify Patient Information window to update the expired patient data. Select the Expired check box. The Expired Date field becomes active. Enter the Expired Date for the person or patient. Do one of the following the application message that appears asking if you want to stop active recalls: Select Yes. If Recall Plan Stop Reason tracking is enabled in Practice Preferences, the Reason for Stopping Recall application message opens. Select a reason for stopping the plan and select OK. All active recalls are canceled. Select No. The active recalls remain in the system. A message appears asking you to stop active recalls for the expired patients when you open the Modify Person Information or Modify Patient Information window or Chart for the expired patient in NextGen® Enterprise PM. Managing an Expired Patient Record
Future appointments and active recalls can be cancelled when an expired date (date of death) is entered on the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window. When a Patient/Person is marked as expired, you are prompted to stop active recalls and future appointments from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window regardless of security permissions in the following applications: NextGen® Enterprise PM - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window and the Patient's Chart. NextGen® Enterprise EHR - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window. NextGen® Optical Management - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window.
