When expiring a patient, you can stop active recalls and/or cancel future appointments. Depending on how your practice is setup you may be required to enter a reason for stopping a recall and/or cancelling future appointments. When canceling future appointments for expired patients, you have the option of tracking the reason for cancelling the appointment based on your practice preference setting. The following procedures provide instructions how to cancel and track future appointments for expired patients. When stopping active recalls for expired patients, you have the option of tracking the reason the recall was stopped based on your practice preference settings. Future appointments and active recalls can be cancelled when an expired date (date of death) is entered on the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window. When a Patient/Person is marked as expired, you are prompted to stop active recalls and future appointments from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window regardless of security permissions in the following applications: NextGen® Enterprise PM - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window and the Patient's Chart. NextGen® Enterprise EHR - from the Demographics tab of the Modify Patient/Person Information window. Use this procedure to do the following: Expire a patient Cancel future appointments and stop active recalls Access the Modify Person/Patient Information Window for the patient that you want to expire. On the Modify Person/Patient Information window, select the Expired check box. The Expired Date field becomes active. In the Expired Date field, enter the date of death for the person/patient. A application message appears, asking if you want to cancel future appointments and stop active recalls. Do one of the following: Select Yes. If Appointment Cancellation Tracking and/or Recall Plan Stop Reason tracking is enabled in Practice Preferences, you will need to select a reason for the appointment cancellation and/or the recall plan stop reason then select OK. Active recalls and future appointments will be cancelled. Select No. Future appointments and active recalls remain in the system. When the Modify Patient/Person window is reaccessed for the expired patient, a message displays asking i
