Cancel an Electronic Prescription

Before you begin You must enable Yes for eRx Permissions Practice Rights access in System Administrator. You must be enrolled for Cancel Rx service level in File Maintenance. Only pharmacies with the Cancel Rx service level can receive cancellation messages Pharmacy must participate in receiving Cancel Rx requests. You can send a Cancel Rx request to a pharmacy. If a medication was prescribed over two years ago, you can only stop or mark a medication as ineffective and cannot send a Cancel Rx request. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Medications module. Select an active medication prescribed less than two years ago. The Last Audit column must have the eRx value. Select Cancel Rx. A message appears indicating that the medication has been cancelled and a cancellation message will be sent to the pharmacy. Select OK. The medication becomes inactive and a cancellation message is sent to the participating pharmacy. The Stop Date is updated in the Inactive grid and the Cancel Rx option beco

Stopping Medications

You are able to stop a medication that was prescribed to a patient. When you stop an active medication, the Medications module adds the current date as the stop date and then moves the medication to the Inactive section. Cancel an Electronic Prescription In the Medications module, you can cancel a prescribed medicine and send a cancellation message to a participating pharmacy. Tracking the eRx Status The eRx Status and Dispense History windows enable you to track the status of cancelled electronic prescriptions. Reviewing Drug Interactions

You can manually review possible negative interactions of active and inactive ingredients of a selected medication in Drug Interaction window. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Medications module. Select Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Search for a medication. Note: If you select a medication that is a duplicate of an active or a pending medication for the patient, or if you select a medication that has contraindications to an existing patient's diagnosis, NextGen® Enterprise EHR displays a warning message. To approve the drug interaction, enter a reason or select one from the list, and then select Acknowledge. Select Cancel, and enter the reason to cancel. Parent topic: Layout of Medications Module

View Patient Medications

Before you begin You must ensure that you have the View access right enabled in MODULES > Medical Records > Medications in System Administrator. For more information on user access rights, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest System Administrator Guide forNextGen®Enterprise. You can view a quick list of the patient's active medications and also open the Medications module to add, update, or reconcile the patient's medications. A total count of the patient's active medications appears on the Medications button on the Quick Buttons panel. Note: The icon indicates that the patient account does not have any active medications records and the No Active Medications check box in Medication Module is not selected. You can document and manage the medication history and current medications of a patient. You can use the Medications panel to view the patient's current medications and medication history, enter additional prescriptions for the patient, and reconcile the medications listed with the actual active medications for the patient. You can use the No medications this encounter check box if there are no active medications for the patient. Stop a Medication or Clear a Medication Schedule

After a medication is stopped, it is removed from the Active grid view and moved to the Inactive grid view. You can select the Inactive option to view and confirm stopped medications. The medication is no longer available for administration in the Medication Administration (BH) template. From the Medication grid, select an active medication. In the Stop Date field, enter the date you want to stop the medication. The stop date must be after the Start Date and cannot be a future date. Select in the Stop Time field and the time defaults to the current system time. Select Stop Drug. The stop time displays in the Stop Time/Reason/Comment field. If the medication was a scheduled medication, an alert appears.
