For Lab and Radiology order types, you can set up schedules for future and recurring orders, as follows:
- Set schedules for recurring and future orders when creating a new lab or radiology order.
- Quickly display the recurring and future orders schedule from the Orders Summary tab for review.
- Reschedule recurring and future order from the Orders Summary tab.
Note: You can also reschedule recurring and future orders from the Orders Management order control on a custom practice template for multiple patients in a practice.
- Update the due date for test results.
Note: You can track and update the Expect Results date for future and recurring orders.
If your practice has set up the Auto Release function in File Maintenance, you can use this function to "mark" future and recurring orders for automatic release. This function enables you to do the following:
- Select the future and recurring orders to be released automatically according to scheduled dates.
- Select the task groups to be notified for follow up after the orders are auto released.
- Manually select specific orders to be marked as Auto Release when processing future or recurring orders.
- Change the status of Auto Release orders before the orders are automatically released. For example, if a future Order was marked as No Auto Release, you can select Yes to change it.
- For more efficient processing, you can use the Orders Management control on a custom practice template to select ("mark") multiple future and recurring orders to be auto released according to the scheduled due date.
- For more information on setting up Auto Release, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the Orders Module Setup Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR .
CAUTION:
When a recurring or future lab/radiology order expires, you do not receive an automatic notification to renew the order's expiration date. To renew the order's expiration date, you must update the
