When you create a new lab or radiology order, you can set up future order schedules on the Set Schedule window. You can set up one schedule or multiple schedules for the tests you select.
Create a new lab or radiology order.
Select order criteria (that is, diagnosis, favorites, if appropriate).
To schedule a future order, select Set Schedule in the Assign Diagnosis to Selected Tests panel.
The Set Order Schedule window opens.
Select the Future Order option.
Check the order to schedule.
Select the future date when the order should be processed.
To update the expiration date, select whether the order should expire in Days, Weeks, or Years; or select a date from the calendar.
Note: You can update the expiration date timeframe. However, you cannot exceed the number of months your practice has set up in File Maintenance > EHR > Practices > Practice Preferences > Orders Module > FutureRecurring Orders Expires After field.
If the order has not been automatically defaulted to be auto released, select the Automatically release the order when it is due check box.
To assign dates for more future orders, select the next order to schedule.
You can set up a future order schedule for a glucose test for the next week, and another schedule for a urinalysis test to occur next month.
To remove the schedule for an order, select the order in the list and select Unschedule.
To save your future order schedule(s) and close the window, select Accept and Close.
Note: You can also set up recurring orders in the same session on the Set Order Schedule window after creating your future order schedule(s). To set up Recurring Order schedules, do not select Accept and Close; select Accept, and then select the Recurring order and continue with your selections.
