Setting Up and Maintaining Your Practice's Orders Workflow Foundation

To schedule, process, track, and complete your order more efficiently, you need to set up the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to meet your specific practice needs. Once you set up your NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, you can then update and maintain these settings as your business needs change and the Orders process evolves over time. Before performing Orders tasks, such as creating and sending Lab and Radiology orders, you need to set up the appropriate system rights, preferences, and tasks for the Orders module. The setup enables you to establish the workflow foundation for your practice or enterprise and enables providers and the clinical staff to access and use the appropriate functionality. The Orders module setup functions and options provide flexibility and enable you to establish a strong foundation for your Orders life cycle. Orders Module

You can use the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module to create and manage your lab and radiology orders (also known as diagnostic imaging orders). You can perform the following tasks from the Orders module: Place and send lab and radiology orders. Complete unfinished lab or radiology orders for a patient that originate from a bulk order generated through NextGen Care® Population Management Hub. Choosing advanced imaging tests by their appropriate use criteria (AUC) scores when you place a radiology order. Set up order filters for your practice or private use. Set up schedules for future and recurring orders. Add, view, and track order comments from different areas of the Orders module. Enter test results manually or view test results received from an interface. Send lab results to NextGen® PxP Portal. To process multiple patients within your practice, you can create an Orders Management Controls practice template in Template Editor. You can then access this template in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR as a Practice Template to view, manage, or send orders for multiple patients in their practice. This information is drawn from the Orders module. The orders listed and the data displayed on each order line are based on the selected predefined system or private user or practice-level filter. The first column displays an icon that identifies the order type (lab, radiology, or immunizations). Icons that identify recurring and future orders display in the second column. Open Your Custom Practice Template with an Orders Management Order Control

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR Do one of the following: On the File menu , select System\Practice Template. If available, execute a template field trigger for selecting system and practice templates. The Select Template window opens. Select the Practice tab. In the Show section, select one of the following options: To display all of the available practice templates, select All. If you have a user-defined, preferred list of templates, select Preferred to display them. You can use the Templates Preferences feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR to define your list of preferred templates. Locate and double-click your practice's template with the Orders Management order control. To quickly find the template, select any row in the list, and enter the first few letters of the template name. The first matching template is highlighted in the list.
