Manage Orders for All Patients across a Practice

To process multiple patients within your practice, you can create an Orders Management Controls practice template in Template Editor. You can then access this template in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR as a Practice Template to view, manage, or send orders for multiple patients in their practice. This information is drawn from the Orders module. The orders listed and the data displayed on each order line are based on the selected predefined system or private user or practice-level filter. The first column displays an icon that identifies the order type (lab, radiology, or immunizations). Icons that identify recurring and future orders display in the second column. You can select the icon to view the order schedule. Practice filters may display other information. The Orders Management Control practice template top toolbar contains commands for the actions you can perform on each order. View System and Practice Templates

System and Practice templates store any necessary information without relation to either a patient or an encounter. Do one of the following: From the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Menu bar, select File, and then select System\Practice Template. If available, execute a template field trigger for selecting System and Practice templates. The Select Template window opens. To open templates of that type, select the System (default) or Practice tab. In the Show section, select one of the following options: All. All of the available system or practice templates. Preferred. Only your user-defined, preferred list of templates. Yo can use the Templates Preferences feature of NextGen® Enterprise EHR to define the list of preferred templates. Categories. Open the Specialty Configuration Home

You can open the specialty configuration homepage using the file menu. Open the NextGen® Enterprise EHR application. From the File menu, select System / Practice Template. The Select Template window opens. Select Template Note: By default, the System tab is selected, and preferred templates are displayed on the Select Template window. If the *Specialty Config Home option is not displayed in the preferred templates list, select All in the Show section. All system templates are displayed. Configure Practice Preference for Display of Orders

You can configure the default settings for NextGen® Enterprise EHR and NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine orders. Open File Maintenance. In Master Files, select System > Document Management, and then select Practices. The Practices List window opens. In the Practices list, double-click a practice. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. In Preferences List, select Orders Module. In the Orders/Results Linking section, select the default view the orders appear in the linking window. In Order Type and Default Source, select the default source that each order type collects data from. In Adaptive Content Engine Order Status Update Upon Sign-off, select a status that is displayed for each order type when you complete a NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine order from the linking screen. Set Up Rights for the Orders Module

To be able to use all of the features in the Orders module, settings in System Administrator have to be set. When set to Yes, it gives system users the rights to create and save orders and perform other functions through the Orders module. CAUTION: If users can access the Medical Records template with the Trend Results order control, they are able to view a patient’s test results. If your practice determines only certain users should be able to view a patient’s test results when they access the Medical Records template, you can set up the applicable Modules, Templates-Medical Records permissions in the System Administrator application.
