Before you begin
  To enter information on the 
Encounter Maintenance window, you must be assigned the 
Update Patient Encounter Operations Right for 
Encounters in the System Administrator application. For more information, go to 
NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the latest 
System Administrator Guide for NextGen® Enterprise.
 
 
 
  To display any of the following IDs in template fields at run time, you must enter the provider in the encounter properties: 
  
   - Rendering Provider ID
 
   - Referring Provider ID
 
   - Admitting Provider ID
 
   - 1st Consulting Provider ID
 
   - 2nd Consulting Provider ID
 
   - Supervisor ID
 
  
  
 
  - On the Encounter History tab, select an encounter, and select the Encounter Options 
 icon, and then select Properties.
   
    The 
Encounter Maintenance window opens for the selected patient encounter. 
    
    
  - In the Providers section, do one of the following: 
   
    - Select the provider from the list for the applicable provider type.
 
    - To display the Provider Lookup window, select the light button.
 
   
 
  - Enter the search criteria, and then select Find. 
   
    The records that match your criteria are displayed.
   
 
  - Double-click the provider record to enter it in the applicable provider-type box on the Encounter Maintenance window.
