Multiple Destinations and Internal Pharmacy

You can dispense a patient's medications to multiple destinations at the same time if a patient requires some medications be sent by mail order pharmacy and others sent to their local retail pharmacy. All medications (or if no medications designated for the interface transmission were selected) are marked to be submitted to the patient’s preferred pharmacy by default. You can also specify the destination through the right-click menu with the following options: Send to Default Retail Send to Mail Order The following setup is required to enable submission of patient medications to an internal pharmacy or multiple destinations: To enable the ability to send medications to multiple destinations, you must select the Allow Sending eRx to Multiple Destinations check box on the Medication list of the Practice Preferences window. Electronically Submit a Prescription

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Select a medication. On the medication details toolbar, select Send. Note: If the pharmacy associated with the medication is hidden, a message appears with an option to select another pharmacy. The Send Prescription window opens. For multiple medications, all associated pharmacies must be active before you can send the medications. Only providers who are enrolled in ePrescribing and assigned a Surescripts Provider Identifier (SPI) can submit prescriptions electronically. If you are not enrolled, a message appears indicating that no SPI is allocated. You can contact your system administrator to check your enrollment details and see the Select a Supervising Physician section in File Maintenance. Optional: To remove a hidden pharmacy message from the Alerts section, select a destination pharmacy that is not hidden in the Destination field or through the Manage Patient Pharmacies link. Submit Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Select Prescribe New. The Medication Search window opens. Select a controlled substance to prescribe. On the medication details toolbar, select Send. Note: If the Prescribed Elsewhere check box is selected, the Print and Send buttons are unavailable. You must review the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) report that is generated automatically when you prescribe a controlled substance. The Send Prescription window displays the logo and appropriate fields for the configured ePCS authentication method. Multiple Destinations

You can dispense a patient's medications to multiple destinations at the same time. In some instances, a patient requires some medications be sent to their mail order pharmacy and others sent to their local retail pharmacy. When more than one destination is required, you can select multiple medications and dispense medications to multiple destinations. You route each prescription separately in the Send Prescription window. Set Up Multiple Destinations

All medications, or if no medications designated for the interface transmission were selected, are marked to be submitted to the patient’s preferred pharmacy by default. Medications are grouped and displayed by their destination. In File Maintenance, from Master Files > System, select Practices. From the Practices List window, double-click the practice to update. The Modify Practice Information window opens. Select Preferences. The Practice Preferences window opens. Select Medication. Prescribe Medication using Real-Time Prescription Benefit

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Run the Rx Eligibility for the patient and then select Prescribe New. Search and select the medication using the formulary search option. The medication you selected appears under the Temporary status. Temporary Status Select the applicable pharmacy. Enter the medication quantity and day supply. The day supply value is calculated by dividing the prescribed quantity by the daily doses. The field supports up to three numeric values. Note: The estimated cost of the medication for the patient appears, and the Show Alternatives/Pricing Coverage link becomes available. Select Show Alternatives/ Pricing Coverage. The Alternatives/Pricing Coverage window opens which displays the alternative medication options. The window also displays the patient’s deductible and additional pricing coverage details.
