Submit Electronic Prescriptions of Controlled Substances
In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module.
Select Prescribe New.
The Medication Search window opens.
Select a controlled substance to prescribe.
On the medication details toolbar, select Send.
Note:
If the Prescribed Elsewhere checkbox is selected, the Print and Send buttons are unavailable.
You must review the Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP) report that is generated automatically when you prescribe a controlled substance.
The Send Prescription window displays the appropriate fields for the configured ePCS authentication method.
Note:If you select multiple medications, you can send them to multiple destinations.
From the Destination list, select a pharmacy.
If the patient does not have a default or preferred pharmacy, select Patient's Primary Default Pharmacy.
To enter the default pharmacy information, select the Manage Patient Pharmacies link.
In the Authentication Required to Sign Controlled Substances section, enter your two-factor authentication credentials, and then select Send.
Note: An application message appears if any inactive pharmacy is selected. You are prompted to select an active pharmacy before sending the prescription to the pharmacy.
