Send a Medication to the Pharmacy from the Workflow Module

Select a task description that displays the status ePA Approved. The task details open. Select Send Rx. The DUR check runs, and the Send Prescription window opens with the Default Pharmacy. As the Send Prescription window incorporates faxing and fax-only pharmacies, you can send the medication to the pharmacy either electronically or through fax. The prescription sent to the pharmacy with the prior authorization information. When you set up Clinical Tasking for Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA), users receive tasks in their inbox that notify them of certain ePA status changes that they need to take action on. Tasks can be routed to a provider or to a workgroup depending on the setup. Having ePA tasks listed on the Clinical Tasking tab in Inbox helps prescribers and clinical staff monitor responses on prior authorization requests sent from NextGen® Enterprise EHR to the pharmacy benefits managers (PBMs). The responses can include status updates when a prior authorization request needs clinical questions answered or other prescriber input, as well as approvals and denials from the PBM. Having notifications sent to the inbox improves the efficiency of the ePA process by enabling you to manage some ePA actions without opening the Medications module each time you want to check an ePA status or take action. Send Medications to Multiple Destinations

In NextGen® Enterprise EHR, open the Medications module. Select a medication. On the Medications toolbar, select Send. Note: If the pharmacy associated with the medication is hidden, a message appears with an option to select another pharmacy. The Send Prescription window opens. Note: For multiple medications, all associated pharmacies must be active before you can send the medications. Optional: To remove a hidden pharmacy message from the Alerts section, select a destination pharmacy that is not hidden in the Destination field or through the Manage Patient Pharmacies link. To fax the prescription, select Force to Fax. To set the selected pharmacy as the default primary pharmacy, select Patient's Primary Default Pharmacy. Set up the patient's primary, secondary, and mail-order default pharmacies using the Manage Patient Pharmacies link. Select Send. You can approve the Rx Change request for different request types from the Workflow module. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and open the Workflow module. Select the Clinical Tasking tab and select an Rx Change request from the task list. The Rx Change request details and patient information appear. Select the appropriate request type and do one of the following: If the request type is Prior Authorization, enter the Prior Authorization ID provided by the Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM) and if necessary, select a Date. If the request type is Generic Substitution, select a generic medication under Suggested Medication.
