Select the Medical Necessity Diagnosis Code
To search for the diagnosis code (key) from ICD-9 codes and descriptions in the ICD9CM Codes Master File, select
ICD9 Code Master
(default).
To search from code alternates set up in your Diagnostic Codes Library, select
Diagnosis Code Mstr
.
Enter the first few letters or numbers of the ICD-9 code and/or description.
To limit your search, select a category to search from in the
Category Desc
list.
Select
Search
.
The diagnosis codes that match your search criteria appear.
To empty all search fields and perform a new search if needed, you can select
Clear
.
To exit without selecting a diagnosis code, you can select
Cancel
.
Select the applicable diagnosis code, do one of the following:

OK
.
Double-click the code.
The selected diagnosis code is automatically entered.

To search for the diagnosis code (key) from ICD-9 codes and descriptions in the ICD9CM Codes Master File, select ICD9 Code Master (default). Patient's Problem List
You can launch the diagnosis search window from a Problem List Pop-Up trigger to display only the diagnoses and ICD codes that have been assigned to the patient. You can then select an ICD code from the list. For example, you may want to associate an existing ICD code with a procedure for billing purposes. Note: In this mode, you cannot search All Diagnoses, Favorites, or Categories; use ICD Legacy Mapping; or view, add, or select ICD synonyms. Enter your search criterion in the text box at the top of the diagnosis search window. You can enter all or part of the clinical description or ICD code or description. Select Search. The search results grid displays the patient problems that match your search criterion. To close the diagnosis search window without making a selection, select Cancel. To select an ICD code, double-click the result row you want, or select the row and select Select. The ICD code is automatically entered in the template field assigned that value. The diagnosis search

ICD Legacy Mapping
ICD Legacy Mapping enables you to view ICD-10 General Equivalency Mapping (GEM) codes for an ICD-9 code. These code mappings are drawn from the ICD-9-to-ICD-10 xref table supplied by Health Language, Inc. (HLI), a third party content provider. The diagnosis search window may be set up to launch in the ICD Legacy Mapping mode, or you can select an option for this mode on the window. Enter the ICD-9 code in the text box at the top of the diagnosis search window. Select ICD Legacy Mapping in the left pane. Select Search, or select the Enter key. The search results grid displays each unique ICD-10 code mapped to the ICD-9 code, which is shown in the Legacy Icd Code column. Note: The results show only the display term description of each unique ICD code, not every synonym for it. To view ICD code synonyms, see step 4. Right-click a row to display the following menu commands: Add to Favorite Group > Favorites group folder. Enables you to add the diagnosis to the selected Favorites group fold

Search All Diagnosis
Enter your search criterion in the text box at the top of the diagnosis search window. You can enter all or part of the clinical description, ICD code, or billing description. You can search for both ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes. You can enter a higher-level ICD code to display all of the associated lower-level ICD codes. Note: The search criterion may be populated from the trigger. You can change it, if necessary. If you search for ICD code 250.00, the search results include codes such as 250.01 or 250.02. Select All Diagnoses (default) in the left pane. Select Search, or select the Enter key. The search results grid displays the results that match your search criterion. Any results that match a diagnosis already on the patient’s diagnosis list display at the top followed by any results that match the provider’s most frequently assigned list.
