Diagnosis Categories

The diagnosis search window displays diagnosis categories that are associated with the provider, if available.
If there are no provider categories, diagnosis categories associated with the practice appear. Categories can be associated with NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM so that only relevant categories display. By default, if the ShowEPMCategories flag is set to False, the system loads practice categories that have Show in EHR set to Y. This flag is set to Y by default for categories that existed before NextGen® Enterprise EHR, 5.8. If the ShowEPMCategories flag is set to True, the system loads practice categories that have Show in EPM set to Y.
  1. Select the applicable category from the Categories list in the left pane of the diagnosis search window.
The search grid displays the list of diagnoses in that category. The results show the preferred description (fully specified name) for the clinical description of the diagnosis for each unique ICD code. Each ICD code displays once in the list.
  2. To search diagnoses within the selected category, do the following:
    1. Enter the search criterion in the text box at the top of the diagnosis search window.
    2. Select Search , or select the Enter key.
The search results grid displays the list of diagnoses that match your search criterion.
  3. Right-click a row to display the following menu commands:
    • Add to Favorite Group > Favorites group folder. Enables you to add the diagnosis to the selected Favorites group folder.

As an alternative, you can select and drag a diagnosis to a Favorites group folder.

    • View/AddSynonyms. Enables you to view, select, add, or delete the alias descriptions for each ICD code.
  4. To close the diagnosis search window without making a selection, select Cancel.
  5. To select a diagnosis, double-click the result row, or select the row and select Select.
The diagnosis ICD billing code is entered in the template field assigned that value. The diagnosis search window closes.
