Select Modifier for a Procedure

You can either enter or select modifiers for a procedure. You can enter up to four modifiers per procedure. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select Modifiers, select the ellipsis button. The Select Modifier window opens. Select Modifier Enter a Modifier Key, a Description, or both as search criteria. To limit your search, select a Category Desc. Select Search. The search results appear in the Select Modifier window. Select the modifier from the list of search results and do one of the following: To exit the Select Modifier window with the selected modifier code, select OK. To perform a new search, select Clear. Select National Drug Code ID for a Procedure

You can select a National drug Code ID (NDC ID) for a procedure. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select NDC ID, select the ellipsis button. The Select National Drug Code ID window opens. Select National Drug Code ID Enter one of the following: Description, NDC ID, CPT4. Select Search. In the results, select the required NDC ID. Do one of the following: To exit with the selected NDC ID, select OK. To empty all search fields and perform a new search, select Clear. To exit without selecting an NDC ID, select Cancel. Select Diagnosis and Admitting Diagnosis for a Procedure

You can either enter or search and select a diagnosis for a patient's procedure. You must select at least one diagnosis for the patient. To enter up to 12 diagnoses for a procedure, you must select Allow twelve diagnoses under the EHR tab in thePractice Preferences window in File Maintenance. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Procedures window in Procedures modules. In Diagnosis field, enter a diagnosis. If a diagnosis code does not exist in the patient's chart, a message appears confirming that add the diagnosis to the patient's chart. To add the diagnosis, select Yes. To continue adding the procedure without adding the diagnosis to the patient's chart, select No. To select a Diagnosis, select the ellipsis button. The search window opens. Search Select the preference icon and select the columns to display. Search results The selected columns appear in the search window. Add a Procedure to a Patient Chart

You can add a procedure to a patient chart from the Procedures module. You can also add procedure to a patient chart on charge submission of an order from the Orders module. The information entered in the Procedures module fields appears in the procedures list on the Procedures window. You can scroll across the procedure list area to view all the columns. The procedures you add also appear in the selected encounter for the patient and in the Superbill module. Open the Procedures module. Enter or select a procedure. To select the service date, do the following: Select the ellipsis button to display the calendar. Select a date. Select OK. Select Start/Stop Time. Note: When you select Start/Stop Time, the current time is selected by default. To change a time, you can select the hours, minutes, and AM/PM fields and then select the up or down arrow. Find a Patient in NextGen® Enterprise EHR

To access the Patient Lookup window, do one of the following: From the Main toolbar, select the Patient button. From the File menu, select Select Patient. The Patient Lookup window appears. Enter Search Criteria to find the desired person or patient. Multiple parameters can be used. For example, enter part of the last name, part of the first name, and birth date. Note: Fields with a "lightning bolt" indicator are for direct match searches and cannot be used with other search criteria. Select Find. Note: : If you are connected to an external system, such as the EMPI Query Interaction System (EMPI QIS), the NextGen database is searched first. If no matching records are found, the external system is also searched. All existing person and patient records that match the search criteria entered display in the Matching Records list. Find a Topic by Entering Search Criteria

You can use different filters to refine your patient education topics search in both internal and external sources. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Patient Education Browser. Select either Internal or External, and then select the search term. Note: If you select Internal Patient Education in the Procedures or Problems modules, the patient education material that is available for searching, is context-sensitive. If the filter options do not appear, you can increase the size of the window to view the filters. To change the language, select a language from the Language list. Note: The default language is English. To refine your search, select the age range and gender.
