Select a Procedure for a Patient

You can either enter or select procedures for a patient. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select a Procedure, select the ellipsis button. The Select Procedure window opens. By default, the procedures are listed in numeric and alphabetic order. In Description, enter a description of the procedure. You can enter a single letter to access the full list of procedures that begin with that letter. Select Search. The Select Procedure window displays a list of procedures that match the description you entered. Select Procedure To limit your search, select a Category. Select a procedure from the list. The procedure code appears in Procedure. Do one of the following: To exit with the selected procedure code, select OK. To empty all search fields and perform a new search, select Clear. Select Diagnosis and Admitting Diagnosis for a Procedure

You can either enter or search and select a diagnosis for a patient's procedure. You must select at least one diagnosis for the patient. To enter up to 12 diagnoses for a procedure, you must select Allow twelve diagnoses under the EHR tab in thePractice Preferences window in File Maintenance. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Procedures window in Procedures modules. In Diagnosis field, enter a diagnosis. If a diagnosis code does not exist in the patient's chart, a message appears confirming that add the diagnosis to the patient's chart. To add the diagnosis, select Yes. To continue adding the procedure without adding the diagnosis to the patient's chart, select No. To select a Diagnosis, select the ellipsis button. The search window opens. Search Select the preference icon and select the columns to display. Search results The selected columns appear in the search window. Select Modifier for a Procedure

You can either enter or select modifiers for a procedure. You can enter up to four modifiers per procedure. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select Modifiers, select the ellipsis button. The Select Modifier window opens. Select Modifier Enter a Modifier Key, a Description, or both as search criteria. To limit your search, select a Category Desc. Select Search. The search results appear in the Select Modifier window. Select the modifier from the list of search results and do one of the following: To exit the Select Modifier window with the selected modifier code, select OK. To perform a new search, select Clear. Add a Procedure to a Patient Chart

You can add a procedure to a patient chart from the Procedures module. You can also add procedure to a patient chart on charge submission of an order from the Orders module. The information entered in the Procedures module fields appears in the procedures list on the Procedures window. You can scroll across the procedure list area to view all the columns. The procedures you add also appear in the selected encounter for the patient and in the Superbill module. Open the Procedures module. Enter or select a procedure. To select the service date, do the following: Select the ellipsis button to display the calendar. Select a date. Select OK. Select Start/Stop Time. Note: When you select Start/Stop Time, the current time is selected by default. To change a time, you can select the hours, minutes, and AM/PM fields and then select the up or down arrow. Enter NDC Information for a Charge

When you enter a charge for a HCPCS or CPT4 code that is set up in the NDC Library, NDC Data for this Charge window appears when the charge is saved. NDC Data for this Charge window allows you to entry NDC information for the charge. Depending on the number of existing NDC Ids in the NDC Library for the CPT4 code on the charge, the NDC information can be attached to the charge in the following ways: If only one NDC Id exists for the CPT4 code, then the NDC Id automatically attaches to the charge. If multiple NDC Ids exist for the CPT4 code, then an NDC Id can be manually selected for the charge. If no NDC Id exists for the CPT4 code, then an NDC Id can be manually added on-the-fly for the charge. Note: Hidden NDC IDs, are those that have been deleted from the NDC Library in File Maintenance. Select an Existing NDC for a Charge

To select an existing NDC ID for a charge, do the following: Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. Select Charges. The Charge Posting window opens. Select the desired patient and encounter. Do one of the following using a SIM code that requires NDC information. Enter a new charge, and then select Save. Select an existing charge, and then select the NDC Charges icon on the Charge Posting toolbar. The NDC Data for this Charge window opens. Select the Open Record button. The NDC Lookup window opens displaying the list of all existing NDC records for the CPT code. To search for a specific NDC Id, select the following in the Search In section. The NDC option to search by the NDC ID. The Description option to search by the NDC Description. Select the Type the first number(s) of the NDCs you want to locate field, and then enter the desired search criteria.
