Select a Procedure for a Patient

You can either enter or select procedures for a patient. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select a Procedure, select the ellipsis button. The Select Procedure window opens. By default, the procedures are listed in numeric and alphabetic order. In Description, enter a description of the procedure. You can enter a single letter to access the full list of procedures that begin with that letter. Select Search. The Select Procedure window displays a list of procedures that match the description you entered. Select Procedure To limit your search, select a Category. Select a procedure from the list. The procedure code appears in Procedure. Do one of the following: To exit with the selected procedure code, select OK. To empty all search fields and perform a new search, select Clear. Select National Drug Code ID for a Procedure

You can select a National drug Code ID (NDC ID) for a procedure. Open the Procedures window in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. To select NDC ID, select the ellipsis button. The Select National Drug Code ID window opens. Select National Drug Code ID Enter one of the following: Description, NDC ID, CPT4. Select Search. In the results, select the required NDC ID. Do one of the following: To exit with the selected NDC ID, select OK. To empty all search fields and perform a new search, select Clear. To exit without selecting an NDC ID, select Cancel. Select Diagnosis and Admitting Diagnosis for a Procedure

You can either enter or search and select a diagnosis for a patient's procedure. You must select at least one diagnosis for the patient. To enter up to 12 diagnoses for a procedure, you must select Allow twelve diagnoses under the EHR tab in thePractice Preferences window in File Maintenance. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Open Procedures window in Procedures modules. In Diagnosis field, enter a diagnosis. If a diagnosis code does not exist in the patient's chart, a message appears confirming that add the diagnosis to the patient's chart. To add the diagnosis, select Yes. To continue adding the procedure without adding the diagnosis to the patient's chart, select No. To select a Diagnosis, select the ellipsis button. The search window opens. Search Select the preference icon and select the columns to display. Search results The selected columns appear in the search window. To select Modifiers, select the ellipsis button. The Select Modifier window opens. Select Modifier Enter a Modifier Key, a Description, or both as search criteria. To limit your search, select a Category Desc. Select Search. The search results appear in the Select Modifier window. Select the modifier from the list of search results and do one of the following: To exit the Select Modifier window with the selected modifier code, select OK. To perform a new search, select Clear. Add Modifiers in Superbill

You can assign up to four modifiers per procedure. Each selected modifier appears in the Assigned Procedures area. Similarly, any modifier entered in the specific modules of NextGen® Enterprise are carried over into the Superbill module. You can scroll across the display grid to view the selected modifiers. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Select File > Superbill. The Superbill module window opens. In Available Procedures, select Modifier. Superbill Select a modifier category from the Modifier list. Note: To view the modifier categories, you must set up the modifier category in the Modifier Categories List in File Maintenance.
