Pediatric Precautions

Pediatric Precautions occur on medications for patient who are under 18 years of age. In cases of contraindication, the DUR displays the following information: Severity level of the precaution, age range for which the precaution applies, precaution narrative where a single ingredient may have multiple precautions if other precautions exist for different age groups.

Pediatric Precautions drug utilization review includes system and user-level preferences that are identical in structure to the regular DUR preferences.

You must acknowledge all drug interactions and select a reason for overriding the warning before you can add the medication. The medication interaction process displays drug interactions according to the display levels set for the system and a specific user.

The medication interaction process does not perform checks on user-defined medications. If the Enterprise option to check for interactions across practices is enabled, the medication interaction process checks for possible interactions across all practices.

If you cancel out of the Drug Interaction window, your action is audited and you must enter a reason.
