Change the Pediatric Precautions Display Level

You can adjust the display view for the pediatric precaution levels of interactions. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR. From the Tools Menu, select Preferences. The Preferences window opens. Select the Medications tab. Select DUR. The DUR Preferences window opens. DUR Preferences Select the Pediatric Precautions Display Level tab. DUR Preferences Set the display to a specific level or select the Use System Default check box to display the Interactions based upon the universal system setting. If necessary, select Help to view the Interaction Display Level Help window. Select OK. CAUTION: You cannot set the Display Level lower than the required system minimum. Pediatric Precautions

Pediatric Precautions occur on medications for patient who are under 18 years of age. In cases of contraindication, the DUR displays the following information: Severity level of the precaution, age range for which the precaution applies, precaution narrative where a single ingredient may have multiple precautions if other precautions exist for different age groups. Pediatric Precautions drug utilization review includes system and user-level preferences that are identical in structure to the regular DUR preferences. You must acknowledge all drug interactions and select a reason for overriding the warning before you can add the medication. Levels of Geriatric Precautions

The medication interactions process displays geriatric precautions according to the display levels set for the system and a specific user. There are two levels of the Geriatric Precautions: Level 1 - Contraindications. Contraindicated for use in the elderly. Level 2 - Management or Monitoring Precautions. Levels of Disease Contraindications

The Medication Interactions functionality displays drug-disease contraindications according to the display levels set up for the system and a specific user. There are three levels of the Drug Disease Contraindications: Level 3: Moderate Interactions. Conservative measures are recommended until more is known (little clinical data exists). Level 2: Severe Interactions. Assess risk to patient and take action as needed. Level 1: Contraindicated Interactions. Action to reduce adverse effect of interaction is usually required. The Medication Interactions window displays allergy interactions according to the display levels set for the system and specific user. There are three levels of medication allergy interaction: Level 3. All significant and cross-sensitivity medication allergy alerts. Level 2. All significant medication allergy interactions. Level 1.
