Open an Image from the Patient Chart

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Choose the image on the Encounter History or Categories tab. Double-click the image. The Imaging module opens the selected image in the work area. Parent topic: Opening the Imaging Module

Add an Existing Image to the Patient Chart

NextGen® Enterprise EHR enables you to add an image to the patient chart. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History or create an encounter. To open the Images module, do one of the following: On the Top Toolbar, select the Images icon. On the main menu, select File > New > Image. The Open Image File window opens. Open Image File Window Select an image from the list of available files, and then select the Open button. Note: If the selected image is too large for the available memory during NextGen® Enterprise EHR import, a prompt appears indicating insufficient memory. In such cases, you are given the option to resize the image for display. The Imaging module displays the selected image. Parent topic: Opening the Imaging Module

Scan an Image to Add to the Patient Chart

Before you begin Ensure that you have access to a scanner and have scanning software on the workstation. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History or create an encounter. To open the Images module, do one of the following: On the Top Toolbar, select the Images icon. On the main menu, select File > New > Image. The Open Image File window opens. Select either the Scan One or Scan All button.The Select Source window opens. Select the scanner name, and select Select.The Imaging module and your scanner's software window opens. To scan the image, follow the on-screen instructions on scanner window.After completion of scanning , the image appears in the Imaging module. Add a Web Camera Image to the Patient Chart

Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR and select a patient. Select an existing encounter from the Encounter History or create an encounter. To open the Images module, do one of the following: On the Top Toolbar, select the Images icon. On the main menu, select File > New > Image. The Open Image File window opens. Select the Camera button.The Camera Capture window opens. The system searches for connected cameras. If it finds one, the image from the camera is displayed. If no camera is present, the window remains blank. To capture the displayed image, select Snapshot. To add the image to the patient chart, select OK.The image is added to the patient's chart. Save an Image to an Encounter

Images are saved to a specific encounter. If an encounter is locked, you cannot modify its images. You can either create an addendum to the encounter or create a custom encounter for the specific date. For more information about encounters, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community, and download the latest Layout and Preferences Guide for NextGen® Enterprise EHR. On the Top Toolbar, select Save. The Save Image File window opens. On the Save Image File window, do the following: Select the Show categories check box. The Show categories pane opens within the Save Image File window. Save Image File Window Enter the image description in the Please enter image description field. Note: NextGen Healthcare strongly recommends to save the images with consistent file names to make them available for reuse. Select the Add description to the list check box to add the specified description to the image. To select the previously saved image from the list, enter the corresponding file name or descrip

Imaging Module

The Imaging module enables you to use clinical images while working with a patient’s medical record in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. You can only access the Imaging module when an image is saved to the patient's chart. With the module, you can open existing images to modify, illustrate, annotate, convert, and save them to a patient's history. You can also scan an image, perform necessary modifications, and then save it. Each image is cataloged by patient, date, and title. From the Imaging module, you can add, modify, print, or delete Quicknotes, or add provider signatures to NextGen® Document Management images. Modification or annotation of NextGen® Document Management images is not enabled.
