Changing Field Styles

You can run the Change Field Style trigger to change the style of the selected data entry (edit), check box, radio button, and note field(s). Depending on the field type, the style may be Normal, Read Only, Required, or Required Read. A single trigger can change one or multiple fields at a time. For example, the field style may change to Read-Only for all fields containing lab results after these fields are populated. The template may be configured with a Change Field Style trigger that enables you to reset the field styles to their original states. Note: The Required Read style applies to data entry fields only. This style prevents a template from being saved until the field is populated with read-only data through a trigger. The Required style is not applicable to Note fields. Insert a Note Field

The note field is saved as a Globally Unique Identifier (GUID) file only if the contents of the field have been changed and the Disable Saving Blank Notes Universal Preference is set to True in System Administrator. In a trigger condition or value calculation, to check if a note field is empty, use the ISEMPTY string function. The maximum data size for a template is 7940 characters. The total data size is the sum of the length of all data entry fields. A message box appears when you try to add or modify fields and you have reached the maximum data size. Drag the Note Icon from the Fields toolbar to the template design area where you want to place it. The Insert Note window opens. Note: You may need to enlarge your template to make room for the note field. The Make Public check box appears on this window only when the note field is on a sub template. Define the table. Documents Universal Preferences

These universal preferences control the handling of documents, including archiving, caching, and import and export paths. The following lists the Documents Universal Preferences. Preference Description Archive Doc Copy Determines whether documents will be archived. To archive documents, set the preference to True. Cache File Level Note: This preference is only set by NextGen support staff. Sets how document files are handled when they are copied to the cache path during document generation and loading. Cache File Levels: 0 – Off. This level is the default. 1 – Caches all document files during generation and loading. 2 – Same as 1 but does not report errors if the cache file cannot be deleted. Convert Notes to Plain Text Setting this option to True enables users to convert Note field values to plain text in a generated document. Setting up User Preferences

You can set up your own user preferences. The General tab enables you to set preferences for template background color, auto save, messages for overlapping active images, and data grid colors. The Check Box tab enables you to set up default text and numeric values to be used for check boxes. The Edit Box tab contains a setting to enable a 3D Look for the border of all edit fields. The 3D Look outlines all data fields, except for read-only fields, in a three-dimensional border instead of a two-dimensional border. The Active Text tab enables you to set up the default colors that indicate whether Active Text was selected or unselected.
