Templates Universal Preferences
The following lists the Templates Universal Preferences.

| Disable Saving Blank Notes | At run time, the Note field is saved as a GUID file only if the contents of the field have been changed and the Disable Saving Blank Notes Universal Preference is set to True. |
| Enable Radio Button Clearing | When set to True, this preference enables users to select a selected radio button to clear it. |
| Family Planning Special Edition | When set to True, this preference enables the check box for installing the Family Planning content on the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine Upgrade Utility. |
| Use FTP |
Determines if FTP is used to store image files. If your practice uses FTP to store information, set theUse FTPvalue toTrue, and then set the following usage specifications: FTP Server– Use if data is stored on an FTP server instead of a regular server. FTP User Id– Enter the user ID used to access the FTP server. FTP Password– Enter the password used to access the FTP server. If you are not using FTP, set theUse FTPvalue toFalseand disregard the remaining FTP-related Universal Preferences. |
| Note DSN | Sets the Data Source name so that the application stores Binary Large Objects (BLOBs) based off of Template Note fields in a database different from the main (Prod) NextGen® Enterprise database. To set up the Note DSN Universal Preference: First, create a separate database. Then, properly set up the ODBC Data Source for the created database. And finally, enter the Data Source name in the Note DSN Universal Preference. All Note field BLOBs are stored in the specified database. |
| Pocket PC Template Export Path | Path for storing Pocket PC templates. Only set this path if NextGenPDA was purchased. |
| Template Cache Path | Path for storing template and active image files that are automatically cached by Template Editor.

| Template Image Host Path | Path for storing image files in templates on a remote host through FTP. |
| Template Image Path | Path for storing image files in templates. If necessary, you can enter an IP address, for example, \\192.168.11.22\images, for active images. |
| Template Import Path | Path for storing imported template files. |
| Template Local Browser Content Path | Path for storing local browser content for a template. Caution: If a Template Local Browser Content Path is needed for the templates you use, you must set up the path in System Administrator. This path is copied during the NextGen® Adaptive Content Engine upgrade. If the environment is on NextGen® Enterprise EHR 5.8 HF26 or higher, the upgrade utility WILL display an error when the path is set to NULL. The utility will set the universal preference to a default value. After you check the default value, and change it if needed, you will need to restart the upgrade utility. If the template local browser content path is set to NULL, the upgrade utility will produce an error. |
| Template Note Path | Path for storing processed RTF files with Audio Notes in order to be displayed in templates. |
| Template Server Cache Path | Path for storing template files that are cached by the Template Cache Generator.

| Top Toolbar Image Path | Path for storing image files used on buttons in the navigation bar for Popup templates. |
| Warn On Assign Field Length Exceeded | If set to True and the assigned value exceeds the field length, a warning message displays to explain that the data assigned to the field is longer than allowed by the field.
