Preference	Description
Email DSN	Sets up the Data Source Name used for storage if Replication is selected.
Use FTP	Determines if FTP is used to store image files. If your practice uses FTP to store information, set theUse FTPvalue toTrue, and then set the following usage specifications: FTP Server– Use if data is stored on an FTP server instead of a regular server. FTP User Id– Enter the user ID used to access the FTP server. FTP Password– Enter the password used to access the FTP server. If you are not using FTP, set theUse FTPvalue toFalseand disregard the remaining FTP-related Universal Preferences.
Generate Read Receipt	Set the preference to True to automatically generate a read receipt for the selected user when sending Patient Portal messages from either NextGen® Enterprise EHR or NextGen® Enterprise PM. Users can override this setting in the Properties section of a Patient portal Message window
Minimum Refresh Rate For Tasking	Limits the minimum refresh value that can be set in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In > Task Preferences , users cannot set the refresh value lesser than the value set in Universal Preferences. If the value set in Universal Preferences is >99, then the minimum value that can be set in NextGen® Enterprise EHR is 99. The value can be set as high as 999. Any numerical value is accepted.
Patient Email Host Path	Sets up the path for the storage of saved e-mails on a remote host through FTP.
Patient Email Path	Sets the network path used to store saved e-mails.
Task List by Enterprise/Practice	When set to True (the default setting), this preference enables the user to see only his or her tasks created in the current practice (instead of seeing tasks across multiple practices). To Do tasks are practice-specific.
Task Recipients by Practice	When set to True, the users only in the current practice display in the All Users folder of the Select Task Recipients window in the Workflow Module. You can also set this preference at the user level.
Use Patient Portal	Set this preference toTrueto allow users to access and work withNextGen® PxP Portal. To restrict access to NextGen Patient Portal, set this preference toTrueat the universal level andFalseat the user level for each user who should not have access to it. You can also set this preference at the user level.

Provider Approval Queue

The following lists all the Provider Approval Queue Universal Preferences. Preference Description Minimum Refresh Rate for PAQ Limits the minimum refresh value that can be set in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. In NextGen® Enterprise EHR >Task Preferences, users cannot set the refresh value lesser than the value set in Universal Preferences. If the value set in Universal Preferences is >99, then the minimum value that can be set is 99. The value cannot be changed. Any numerical value is accepted. View Items Across Practices Enables you to view your PAQ items across practices when you are a provider who has access to multiple practices within an enterprise. You must manually set the option to view your PAQ items across practices. The value shows True if the preference is enabled and False if disabled. Patient Education Universal Preferences

Set the Universal Preferences for Patient Education only if you have purchased the Patient Education module. Before installing the Healthwise Patient Education module for the first time, you must set the file path in the System Administrator application. The following lists the Patient Education Universal Preferences. Preference Description Custom Patient Education Path Defines the path where uploaded custom patient education documents are created. Local Patient Education Files Defines the shared path you created or the NextGen root path where the Patient Education Installer wizard installs the files. Patient Education DSN The DSN of the external database where patient education documents are saved to an encounter are stored (if applicable). Patient Document Path Defines the path where Healthwise Patient Education documents are saved. Medication Universal Preferences

The Medication Universal Preferences control various elements in the Medications module and the Medication Allergies module in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. Preference Description Allergy Interaction Level Display Default Sets the default display levels for allergy interactions for all users in the system. Allergy Interaction Level Display Minimum Sets the minimum allowed display level that a user is able to set in the User Preferences in NextGen® Enterprise EHR. The following display levels are available: 3 - All significant and cross sensitivity allergy alerts 2 - All significant allergy interactions 1 - Most significant allergy interactions 0 - Disable allergy alerts Setting the minimum display level determines the level of allergic interactions displayed. For example, setting the preference to display Level 2 displays both Level 1 and Level 2 alerts whereas setting the value to Level 3 displays Level 1, 2, and 3 alerts. Set Up Universal Preferences

How to use System Administrator to configure preferences that are not specific to a particular practice. To access and set up Universal Preferences: Select View > Universal Preferences. The Preferences window appears. Select the preferences folder you want to configure The window displays the available preferences. In the Preference list, double-click the preference you want to set up. A window displays for the selected preference. Enter the desired value for the preference, and then select OK. There are three types of preferences: Preference Type Description Boolean Select True to enable the preference or select False to disable it. Path Enter the path that applies to the preference. You can enter the path or select the Ellipsis button to navigate for the path. Free Text Enter the alphanumeric value to use for the preference. Note: Some Universal Preferences may include FTP (File Transfer Protocol) settings. Set up FTP settings only if your practice is using FTP to store information.

Set Up Universal Preferences for Task Recipients by Practice

When selecting users or groups to receive tasks when saving an order, you can set up the Task Recipients by Practice preference to display the recipients for the current practice a user is logged on to. Select System Administrator > View > Universal Preferences. Select Workflow. The Workflow preferences opens. Select the Task Recipients by Practice preference. To display users for a current practice when tasking in the NextGen® Enterprise EHR Orders module, set the Task Recipients by Practice value to True. Select OK to save the value. When a user saves an order using the Save & Task option, the list of users for the current practice displays.
