Manage Cases from Encounter History

Before you begin Ensure that the View Case Management check box is selected in the user-level settings to enable case management on the Encounter History tab. Any changes made to the Patient's Encounter preferences occur only after you reload the Encounter History tab. The Encounter History tab in NextGen® Enterprise EHR provides access to the cases and encounters available for the selected patient. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window. On the Encounter History tab, select a case, select Case Options, and then select Properties. Note: Some cases can be marked as Private. If you select a case that is marked private, then you must have necessary user rights and permissions to access that case information. The Case Management window opens. Make necessary modifications to the selected case or the related data. Case Privacy

There is a security control setup at the Case level. Restriction of security rights can be set for: Diagnosis Category Employer Location Market Payer Case Type Case Category. For example, a list of restricted employers can be maintained for each group or role in the system. If it is documented that a patient’s case is associated with “NextGen” and NextGen Healthcare is marked as restricted, then the case is marked as private. Cases marked as private are suppressed if the case data has been designated as restricted for the specific user group. Private Cases All of the contents of an Encounter associated with a private case are not displayed in the Encounter History tab. Any row data within the NextGen® Enterprise modules is hidden if the case is marked as private and the user is restricted. Documents in encounters that are marked as private are restricted in the Custom Print and Export Patient Documents features as well. You can mark the cases as private if the case data has been designated as restricted for the specific user group. Open NextGen® Enterprise EHR, and select a patient from Patient Lookup window.
