Viewing Patient Demographics Information

The Demographics tab in Patient Information is the default tab that appears on the patient chart displaying demographics, patient status and client-defined information for the patient. You can select Who/When button to view the Created By and Last Modified By information. The demographics information consists of gender identity, preferred pronoun, current gender, sexual orientation, veteran status, and pharmacy information. The fields that appear for demographic information depend on the selections made on the Enterprise Preferences Client Defined tab and/or the Practice Preferences of the Chart window. You can create the Patient Expired label on an expired patient's chart by selecting the Expired check box and entering the expired date on the Demographics tab in the Add Person Information or Modify Person Information window For more information on adding or modifying patient demographic information, go to NextGen Healthcare Success Community and download the Patient Demographics Guide

Recalls for Expired Patients

On the Modify Patient Information window, when the Expired check box is selected, a prompt displays after entering an Expiration Date for patients that have one or more future appointments and/or active recall plans. The purpose of the prompt is to alert the user that future appointments for the patient should be cancelled and active recall plans should be stopped. Marking the Patient as Expired

When you select the Expired option on the Modify Patient Information window and enter an Expiration Date for patients that have one or more future appointments and active recall plans, a messages appears stating that the future appointments must be canceled and the to stop the active recall plans for the patient. Note: If you select the system alerts in the Alerts section of the Practice Preferences window, then when you open the Modify Patient Information you get a message with the information on the expired patients with future appointments and active recall plans. Modify Patient Information

You can modify and update the demographic information in a patient chart. Open NextGen® Enterprise PM. On the main toolbar, select Chart or Chart Lookup Chart Lookup icon. The Patient Lookup window opens. In the Search Criteria section, enter the patient's information, and select Find. Patient records that match the search criteria, appear in the Matching Records section. Select the patient, and then select Open. The patient chart opens. In the Patient Information tab, select the Demographics tab and then select open folder Open Folder icon next to Name. The Modify Patient Information window opens. Update the desired fields. Cancel Future Appointments for an Expired Patient

Canceling future appointments for an expired patient involves the following steps: Update date of expiry Cancel future appointments Open the Modify Person Information or Modify Patient Information window to update the expired patient data. Select the Expired check box. The Expired Date field becomes active. Enter the Expired Date for the person or patient. Do one of the following on the message that appears asking if you want to cancel future appointments: Select Yes. If appointment cancellation tracking is enabled in practice preferences, the Reason for appointment cancellation message opens. Select a cancellation reason and select OK. All future appointments are canceled. Select No. The future appointments remain in the system. A message appears asking you to cancel future appointments for the expired patients when you open the Modify Person Information or Modify Patient Information window or Chart for the expired patient in NextGen® Enterprise PM.
